Which one do you trust to take you to the Kiwi? Which has the most suitable tyres??...See you up there.

The NZD is looking good against the GBP. Just imported NZD 450 of parts for the Gilera. Looks like a similar order's in train for the RS. Might be good to get that running again. Its been looking rather sad in the corner of the garage, with an oil splodge under it, for far too long.. Think the battery has finally died (no worries - only 7 yrs old)...

    Cheers, Steve

The 800 has better tyres and is running sweet, The PD should be sweet now too but will probably need some tweaking to get just right.

But it's raw vrs refined and refined is the one I want to take.

So hope that Bryce comes to the party, or take a risk that it doesn't rain on your parade. H4s don't do well in the wet, though yours seems to have done okay...

Bryce came to the party, I picked up my headlight this morning and put it on the bike tonight.

So I took the bike out for a spin. Once warmed up the idle is a little high. I suspect also the timing is not quite right and/or the carbs are a bit out of balance as the bike is quite vibey where it wasn't before.

Acceleration however was constant throughout the rev range with no more huge gaping holes where nothing happened or it missed like crazy, with the exception of some hesitation just coming off idle.

The headlight seems good, following cars the top edge of the beam was at the bottom level of rear windows.

So whats not quite right if it's hard to start when cold?

Warm it seems to fire right up but cold it takes a while to fire.

Haven't had a chance to check out the timing and carb balance, I might just have to ride it as it is.

Timing has a large impact on ease of starting...However if the variability is when the bike is cold, that might would suggest the carb settings. Did you look at the choke settings? Also idle circuit.

Listening to National radio today. The lady who was introducing the daily "Best song ever written" started telling us about her & hubbys trip of a lifetime thru Turkey, Syria, Lebanon etc on a 97 PD. She said it just went brilliantly & no punctures. They were from Howick Auckland & she was in China teaching for a year before the trip.

What was more impressive was the announcer Noelle was knowledgeable about bikes & was fawning over the PD.

A nice start to my afternoon...

Is that a PD? It looks very road orientated vs something like Eddies beauty. Or is it the panniers that make it look too roadie?

It's the same as Eddie's bike. The previous owner of Eddies bike removed the front fairing & stuck on Touratech gear.

Love listening to Noelle, Think it's just the accent. She was good on BFM.

There is a picture on the current ADVrider.com front page page rotation.

It's actually JunkManJoe riding my PD, me riding Joe's DR650 and Paladin bringing up the rear.
