Someone with a better sense of colour that whoever did the psychedelic mid 90's Dr650 ones. Not much more sense though.

Thats about it really. though the front fairing is a better shape on the PD, it looks a bit 'after thought' on the standard GS i think. There may be small differences in the instrumentation layout and gauges. If your lucky the PD may have factory heated grips, I don't know if the standard bike had them or not.

And someone has put low pipes on the standard one and it has the earlier style rocker covers which aren't quite as crash proof as the black ones.

They are same motor, chassis, wheels, brakes etc though so are just as capable as each other. The PD would be a bit heavier but would go a bit further per tank, and just looks cooler.

The PD has the little bikini fairing in front of the headers though if you are going to do anything more than a gravel road on it I'd recommend taking if off. The mounts are weak and it gets pushed back against the exhaust and melts. DAMHIK.

Just purchased a 2006 1200gs. Have to wait a week for them to fit new tyres and service. Can't wait. Will be a bit different from the old bandit but will be great to explore some new country.

You must have one of those newer, more "fragile" Beemers !! We make a plan later in the week. Mite have to get a new tyre, my ones got a cut in it and its going down quite quick.
Just leave the keys under the mat on Anzac weekend, and drink you beer before then. Tell him your going to an Anzac parade, just not sure where !!

yes i know ... free advice is worth what you pay... stay away from bm panniers (1600 bucks of crap... likewise with bm clothing ... dririder is twice as good and half the price)... the bike is magic ... service it ... keep it on good tyres .... NZ is why the 1200 exists

So my holiday in NZ is almost done...
I'm checking out the shipping costs as I would like to keep my airhead, but if the cost and tax are ridiculous then I will have to sell.
    What ya recon she's worth?
1989 R100GS from what I can deduct from the Reg she has about 88k km. fitted with an Ohlins on the rear and progressive springs in the front. Also fitted with touratech center oil cooler mount. in january the frame was sandblasted and powdercoated, new fork seals fitted.

anybody got any good ideas for cost effective shipping? Shipping from Auckland to Port Elizabeth in South Africa.

Watch out for those KLR riders, leave it in the company of another airhead GS.........

    blasting 200 coating 300
coating can be cheaper if you stick to 1 colour. I did blue, white and black.

Thanks for the storage offer, but I'm not applying for residency. Just had a good holiday, there is still much of the world to see...
