So I have checked out the shipping options and it's just not worth for me trying to take this back home. Port duties, handling and taxes on the other side is just to much. So I'll be putting my bike up on trademe some time over the weekend. but I've been checking the adds and there is a g/s close to home that I might be able to pick up, so balance will be restored soon
I bought it to tour NZ, on which I ended doing about 6000 trouble free km. I have a real passion for these bikes and did a complete cleanup and inspection of it after I purchased it.
Just about all parts apart from the motor was sandblasted and powdercoated. I removed and inspected the drive shaft and it is in perfect condition and still as new. Bike is fitted with Ohlins suspension with remote hydraulic preload adjustment and also click damping adjustment. Progressive springs are fitted to the front. The bike also comes with panniers and it is also fitted with a HPN/Acerbis 43 liter adventure tank. Front brake has also been upgraded with a 4 pot caliper of a R1100 and the disk brake it self is hardly worn.
I still have the original toolkit and a tyre repair kit with some gas bombs. Some spare parts I have with the bike are side covers (I dont bother with these, but if you want to make it look original you can) as well as the original low front fender, crashbars with side stand fitted (as I was just touring I didnt bother with these), spare clutch lever, usable spare indicator.
Anyway on reassembly just about all fasteners were replaced with stainless steel. Clutch and driveshaft splines were lubed with molypaste and bearings were packed with grease.
What needs to be done on the bike??
It will need a new choke cable soon as the cable is getting sticky (this is common on these bikes and easy to fix) personally I would remove the cable completely and replace with one of the aftermarket kits available that put a pull lever on the carb. eg.
With the next oil change the oil pressure switch must be swapped, I will give you the replacement switch with the bike, its a simple screw out and screw in operation. I'll check, I can probably swop it without the oil drained if I tip the bike a bit.
Edit: Ah, also fitted a Goodridge braided brake hose. And probably should have mentioned, motor runs schweeet and gearbox has solid gear changes, no false neutrals. Cold starts with full choke no more than 2 seconds to start (only one second if you have your hands on the float bowls for 20 or so seconds) also fitted with new SLA battery in January.
Swap for a tea towel with a map of NZ on it & a plastic Tiki?
Please?
newguy that is one fabulous looking ride and that 43lr tank
