wowza thats one hot looking ride Phil .

Bollocks, get of your arse and go get it
If you keep with fuel injection you have to have the pump and tank. Is the pump inside the tank on the 1150, like a Dakar or external. ?
Nothing wrong with good old Bings, If you have a close look at the 900RR Dakar bike it runs carbs. Simple is Good !!![]()
Yeah thanks Phil I saw it had carbs I also think that is the 850 engine bored out due to engine size restrictions for the Dakar. I wrote off my 1100 last year and bought a totalled 1150 that the guy had already started to repair but given up because of the costs involved so that is why my 1100 now has an 1150 front on it. It also has the 1150 gearbox in it. When the bike went down and bounced off the other vehicle it was on its side and broke the swing arm pivot point out of the side of the gearbox housing ( a common outcome with crashed 1100 ) the gearbox is still usable but need the frame to remount the swingarm Regards GSers
Can you use the 1150 gearbox with the 1100 frame? Do you need to use other 1150 bits as well?
Yea. Looks like it can be done. I guess making new engine mounts and lining up the drive shaft are the biggies.
Or you could build one of these
In short no the 1150 gearbox requires the 1150 rear subframe aswell and the other difference is the clutch besides being hydraulic on the 1150 the flywheel and clutch assmebly and input shaft spline are different from the 1100 but these parts all bolted onto the back of the 1100 motor. I used the 1150 swingarm and shock then the 1100 diff to get the ratio back down for ADV riding. 1150 gearbox + 1100 diff gives the same first gear as the 1150 Adventure Regards Gsers
I cant without buying another 1100 gearbox no way of mounting the swingarm as the left side pivot bolt has been broken out of the housing. I could get it welded as I have all the bits but I dont fancy riding down gravel tracks at 100kms and suddenly have the swingarm part company with the rest of the bike. GSers
I watched a HPN on youtube last nite. What a beautiful sound they make.
So the main difference between monos & paras is the torque arm thing. What are the difference ride characteristics between the two? Is it that noticeable?
You should ask Igormortis this one as I believe he has just changed to a paralever but from my former riding days on a Yamaha XJ650 when you roll on and off the power you could certainly feel the back of the bike rise and fall.
You don't get this on the paralever the same as the torque rotates through the last part of the swing arm only by the final drive pivot bearings. So the is only a slight movement which you dont notice. Regards GSers
Having owned a mono G/S and a paralever at the same time I can confirm this is correct, the mono's exhibit far more torque reaction when rev'ed.
I never found this an issue however and it does add to the character of riding the bike. Plus you can use it to your advantage when cornering.
