Bollocks, get of your arse and go get it
Good mate - haven't been riding as much as I'd like but did manage a little jaunt with some of the guys on here.
Tyres are now well and truly gone - but got some new ones waiting to go on. Some other goodies planned also!
Thanks for the heads-up on the forks, I'll be sure to see to that.
My first G/S. Built in the first 6 weeks of production ever so one of the very first ones. Single PD seat with rack and weird half plastic half canvas givi bag where the pillion seat usually is.
It had done about 300,000km when I got it and I've seen it for sale I think 3 times since and each time it appeared to have gone round the clock again.

Cool Eddie. Give us some more details. Being a G/S it was a monolever? Any mods? Why did you get rid of it & are you gonna get another one?
It was a monolever.
Apart from the screen and the aforementioned G/S PD seat and rack setup it had a aftermarket exhaust as the G/S ones all rusted out eventually, BMW rev counter, later larger R100GS tank. The front guard was off a jap trail bike I believe. A previous owner had also removed all the inlet trumpets and associated piping from inside the airbox which made it quite peaky for a BMW. It had a huge peak right in the mid range then just before redline it took off again.
I can't remember why I sold it but obviously it was a silly idea.
I have a 'spare' G/S rear subframe sitting in my garage. The single seat and dual seat setups are a little bit different with mounting tabs and things in different places. Sometime after I sold this bike it was converted to dual seat with a dual seat subframe fitted. The previous owner of the Black G/S I sold last year acquired the single seat subframe and gave it to me when I bought the black G/S so I ended up with the subframe of this bike again.
I've love another mono as a project, fit different forks, ohlins shock etc but it would have to come up at the right price i.e. cheap and would probably sit in the garage for a while before it got any attention at the moment. I have a house which demands 90% of my project time.

so you have a spare rear single subframe?????? Don't get my hopes upI was intending to make one up- without the rack thing tho.
I have to say the GS exhausts are pretty damn ugly. I 'll be looking at replacing mine at some stage with something a little more...um.... grunty looking.
Hopefully the bike should be here in a week or so. I can see a dose of RSI coming up getting it looking unrusty.
The GS exhaust will last forever, they are stainless. The G/S ones were steel. You won't get any more power by replacing it either, maybe a bit more noise but they sound more like a flat drone so thats not necessarily a good thing.
The G/S subframe won't fit your bike I believe and it's just the subframe, not the single seat rack. On the early PD single seat units the rack was attached to the seat.

Not after any more noise or power it's just that they look so goofy & triangular. Very out of keeping with the cool ovally roundness of the rest of the bike.
I'llbe making a new subframe then - gonna xtend my welding skills.
How much you after for the PD Eddieb?.
Harley Davidson: The most efficient way to convert gasoline into noise without the side effects of horsepower.
'Fast' Harleys are only fast compared to stock Harleys.
Google the HPN 'Baja' exhaust. It's actually a R100R muffler with its chrome covers removed and fancy carbon heat shields added.
So Eddie's right on about the stock exhaust being best for power. A bit of searching and you'll see a few airheads with the "naked" R100R muffler. People also run them as a low exhaust with the R collector box to create clearance for equal-sized bags.
Yep, how far do you want to go. There's heaps of airhead build threads out there.
