Padmei- I'm almost loath to admit it, but I'm warming to that paint scheme!

BMWST - Sorry I missed you. Maybe I can check out that Ohlins in the daylight sometime though.

In the meantime I'll have a think about your start problem. Perhaps you could've swopped the loaner beancan for a loaner starter!

Also - your new brake shoes - are they gen. BMW or aftermarket? I've often heard that a good result comes from re-lined (with a greater friction material) original shoes. Together with frequent use of the rear brake to keep them bedded in.

BMST - bugger about the starting problem. New battery isn't it? Sorry I'm not familiar with the starting side of things so I can't be of much help. The tyre is a AC10 or something.

Igormortis I hope you're gonna keep us updated with any mods etc.

i dont THINK its the battery. It did it last weekend too but i thought i had fixed it.I am still convinced it related to the system to prevent starting in gear if clutch is not pulled in

We got the brake place to bond truck material to the XR shoes.

After the 6-hour cross country they were still only 1/3 bedded

    They will outlast the bike...

Nice. Were you looking for one since you left? That looks like a good one. Any plans for it?

    GS Anniversary Ride

The ride is on its way down the country from Cape Reinga to the Bluff you can see photos here.

I will be heading to the South Island this Saturday to join in and hopefully see some great country side and trails I haven't ridden yet. This is a fundraiser for the westpac helicopters so if you feel the need there are links on the site to make a donation.
    Cheers GSers

Eddie its still happening but the last couple of weeks I have had other things on.
ie: South Island last weekend for a BMWOR Rally Good Bike and back down there again this weekend on the Ruffy for the anniversary ride. I have had a bit of prep work to do on the bikes. Back to the YZ1150RR I have just about finished building the jig so I can build the frame making sure that everthing is lined up correcttly I bought a lathe so I could make the parts saves paying some other bugger. Once the jig is finished I need to turn up the new steering head and then bits and pieces and the the frame should start coming together. I have taken photos as I go so a report will be in order once it is further down the track.
Catch up again soon regards GSers

    Suspension

If I keep my stock rear shock is it possible to get it rebuilt custom to my weight etc? Is it worth it?

What would I gain with a more expensive shock - i'm pretty much set & forget - not into tinkering with settings & stuff.

How & where & does it have all the gadgety things??? Why is it heaven - what do you gain in real actual riding terms - ie rear wheel sticks to the ground over corrugations - that kind of thing???
