I can see that thing leaving some long tyremarks down the Molesworth - good stuff- just the thing for a 2k commute each morning - that's if you can bring yourself to turn into the work carpark

ps only 3 or so more weeks till Molesworth & rainbow open

Cheers for that. She is a pretty regular contributor to Adv rider.

Are there any other GS' doing the Dusty Butt? Not sure if I will take Gonzo or Schmidtty...

Craig - would certainly like the BMW performance going to and from the event - however, I appreciate the light weight / increased confidence factor of the DR so the DR wins. From my experience last year, for most sections a big GS would be fine - a challenge for single track and some of the many stream crossings.

    BMW Battery

Well don't I feel like a right plonker, I have been trying to get a battery for my 01 1150GS that doesn't have heated grips or ABS so it has a 14AH battery in it not the 19AH that the others do. In the battery compartment it looked as tho a spacer had been spot welded in to take up the room that the bigger battery would have needed, I didn't want to cut it out as I want the bike to remain factory. Everyone kept saying that the BMW only came out with the 19AH battery, quick search on the net proves they didn't but never mind.Well seeing as Im not allowed to ride for a little while I thought right lets get this tank off and cut this spacer out(quite an easy bike to work on one armed). I removed the 4 nuts holding down the battery box but it wouldn't come off (cables and shit clamped underneath) but while I was down there what did I see F...in nuts holding that spacer in, oh f..k good one. So I undid the one on the right side and went over to the left to undo those 2 but the air intake is in the way, so undo the aircleaner screws and WTF the filter is covered in feathers, I looked down the tube and there has been a bird stuck in there for some time, I thought it felt alittle sluggish last ride
The battery had lasted 9.5 years so I spose a new one had to come some time, it will now be the big one tho $235

You mean to say, you rode the other bike and neglected the Beemer so much, you had a family nesting in your airbox.....
Any feathers being spat out of the exhaust? Roast Chicken smell on start up? and I bet you thought it was the neighbours Sunday roast too....

    about the feathers

but the the spacer in the batt box is not for a bigger or smaller batt, the front compartment is for the ABS if you had one the 14AH & 19AH are same size but one has more plates

That's worse than when we started Underground's new Dommy up at home. A moth got blown out the exhaust, stumbled around for a bit and then flew away
