This was parked outside one of my jobs today. I had seen it riding around & had wanted to have a look at it for a while. Very tidy but not as mint as it looks from across the street.

A Hagon on the back. Are these cheaper options of the Ohlins - didn't look to have as many adjustment things (a good sign in my book)

Still got plenty of tread but the sidewalls???

Was interesting to see how all the bits join up. I'm quite looking forward to getting mine & tootling around.

Eddie please stop posting those links to parts shops - I'm starting to get really worried how many bits I may need to replace.

There are lots of farkling goodies out there for airheads.

Hagon are cheap replacement shocks. They keep the rear wheel on the ground and the rear guard off the rear wheel. i.e they adequately serve the purpose as a shock and in my opinion are no better or worse than the factory shock, unless of course your factory shock is blown then they are miles better. I've run 3 of them on different bikes not all of which were BMW's.

I'd hesitate to mention them in the same paragraph as Ohlins though. At ~$800 for a Hagon and ~$1800 for a Ohlins they will do the job for less than half the money, but the Ohlins is $1000 betterer.

    Yep Eddies
It's what turned me on to the beauty of the boxers. (It was that sideways wiggle when starting that I liked - & turning it around in a tight spot was a breeze)

In a couple of weeks the red menace will be in the south Island

Define cheap (Got a few $$ but not enough for a kitted one like Eddieb's)

If it's the one I'm thinking of then it really was listed cheap. Had low twin exhausts I believe. A little rough 'round the edges but looked like a solid bike from a guy that appears to know what he's on about.

$2500 or so if I remember rightly.

Um, actually $3500, had about 200k kms on it, but Sean indicated the motor & gearbox were solid. Given Sean's a real BM enthusiast, with a number of the bikes of various models (including race bikes) I think he's probably in a position to know. He was commuting that bike...

There have only been a few sub $3k R/GS bikes recently that I am aware of - a $2.8k R80GS roughy that Barrie got, & the $2.4k R100GS steal that Padmei made off with...both cosmetically challenged. I know that Barrie's GS needed a new driveshaft at least. Padmei's seems to need at least a new battery & shock..
IT'S JUST BETTER WHEN THERE'S TWINS INVOLVED..
