    Cool Bike.
Making a 500 into a 900 is straight forward, I hope he changed the cam.
Gives me an idea for the 1973 frame I have thats still on the system......
Any suggestions on a front end and wheel?

Wow another fellow fallen to the airhead bug.

Slippers & pipes at 5pm in the library for a nice brandy.

    When do you get it?

Edit: just saw you slid in at at the end. I thought I had got this http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/List...x?id=681876819 but after a domestic at the sellers place I was told his wife had already offered it to someone else -

Gonna fly down on Sunday morning and hopefully be back for tea that night. Possible under-estimation of time in this scenario.

Was going to sell the KLR, but not sure whether I can part with it, and anyway its a good thing to have a big road bike and a lightweight offroad weapon in the same stable.

Also, I might not like the BMW, my one and only ride on one was on Schmidt for about 100 metres. Can't for the life of me remember whether it was a good or bad experience

I found the main differences were the cramped feeling I had sitting on Schmidt compared with Gonzo - taller seat & lowered pegs helped a lot.

The weight is more esp with all the bull bars & crap on the front but is nowhere as top heavy even with a full tank. When riding you won't notice it too much.

You'll prob hit your carbs with your shins a few times before you remember they're there.

Do not -repeat- do not throw your leg out frontwards when out of control round a corner & try to MX style it back under control - it fricking hurts & the bruising stays for weeks

You'll prob get as many people stopping to talk about the PD as the KLR - they are both machines that make men envious & women aroused.

You may crash while trying to find how to turn off the indicators while riding.

The drive is very smooth due to the shaft- you'll notice a nice difference but can't put your finger on it - I have solved that for you. You will at some stage curse the driveshaft & final drive & wish for the simplicity of an oily chain.

You will like the bike cos once you own one you are not allowed to say anything other than (in a deadpan Germanic accent of course)
"They are the most reliable bike in the world
    - they were the first bike that allowed people to ride around the world
    - it could never be done on another bike & I refute any evidence to the contrary
    - BMW engineers could never design something that wasn't perfect
    - it is alright to spend a lot of money on farkles due to the amount of hard core riding I do/ plan to do/ wish to do

I herd that people who eat potato salad seldom wear shoes and spit their food at you while talking with their mouths full? not saying its true though.

Like the look of the big beamers but haven't got round to riding mine since I got it. one day I spose.
