    that was quite fun

a normal (but fun) gravel road leads to the Leatham Conservation Area. I went about 3k past this on an easy 4wd track before getting turned back by a possibly dicey river crossing (would be easy if you had help and/or weren't carrying too much gear).

Possibly the 4wd track goes up to 24km to Bottom Gordons Hut

could be worth a look for you top of south island wallahs

Hey Mark, although your new gadget brought on fits of jealousy cos of where you went to test it, thought it looked kinda cool to have!

What did you think of the test?

I think its well worth having. Cost $270 from tard me and costs $115US per year to use. It needs to have a clear view of the sky to transmit. I needed to push the "I'm OK' button more to make the track more 'followable'. I'll bring it on future rides so the 'stay at homes' can see what ere up too.

Posted some pics and lies here

I see what you're saying - can you not get it to just track constantly like a GPS then without pushing the message button constantly?

Understood. But if you wanted to pay, you can have the best of GPS tracking and SPOT messaging in one device so thats good!

Looks like it has its uses then.

Oh I see, so the grid refs etc is just on the online monitoring; shame. Yeah will be nice to see the unit! And, yes, I see that sneaky trick to get me to come play on Sunday!

Sheeesh I need some new tyres and offroad riding lessons!

Right pray for dry weather; I'm actually gagging for a ride after not having the bike for a week and your shenanigans down south makin me jealous!
    Cheers, Dave
