I just got the latest copy of NZ Autocar and they have a test of the Yamaha R6. These guys know bikes and they are very thorough, they actually weigh the bikes, dyno test them and measure 0-100 and 80-120 acceleration. That is a lot more than NZ bike magazines bother to do.
Anyway, they love the bike but say it's more track rather than road oriented. Something that also stood out for me was this statement: " By comparison, the 600cc makes it's big bro', the 1000cc R1 feel as threatening and demanding as a soft toy. For starters, the smaller inline four cylinder engine doesn't really wake up untill there's 8000rpm dialled in the tachometer at which point it goes totally feral and ballistic."
Amen to that...
And by the way, they got 118hp at the rear wheel which is significantly more than the other 600 supersport bikes they have tested that make around 110.
