    Time for a 600

Well in a couple of months im going to be in the position for a new bike. looking towards a 600 and ive really grown on the 05 kawasaki 636. are there any known problems or issues related with these bikes or reliability issues? yes i would be getting a triumph 675 daytona if i could afford it lol. the underseat exhaust just does it for me on bikes
If practive makes perfect, but no bodys perfect then why practice?

I have an 08 zx600r. Very impressed with the build quality and performance/handling. I think 636s were pretty sorted.

yeah it got some pretty good reviews. i would be stoked with any of the sport 600's but the 636 is the one that looks sexiest to me,
would it be too risky buying off trademe? there is a few on there for under $9k where as with a dealer im most likely looking at araound 11500 im guessing

I think the 636s on TM are great value-undervalued compared with other 600s. I am looking at one at the mo-if it is cheap enough it would be better that putting the kms on my new bike! The 07 600s had a tappet cover gasket leak/factory fix,but nothing else I have read about.

Meeh the 03/04 beats the 05/06 anyday mate! Great value for money as well. 0oh here's a fine example:

There are some scumbag crook dealers out there as well who are worse than private sellers. I've had good and bad experiences both buying privately and through dealers.

Generally tend to buy privately as same bike is way cheaper.

    E.g. for the above:

    http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Mo...-181327129.htm

Private price compared to Rib Baron !

05 (first of the newer generation) had some issues can't exactly remember what it was. There should be a thread somewhere here though. Good luck !

I've got an '08 zx6r and it rocks!

In all the reading I've done the only real issue is the tappet cover leak, but that was on a latter model than you've mentioned.

sounds like a solid buy then, now ill just have to take one for a spin. the reason i dont want an earlier model is because i want one with the underseat exhaust lol

Cant you buy aftermarket underseat exhausts for the newer ones? Which is best? Zx6R or R6?

The 07-08 ZX-6R is not at all like the 05-06 ZX-6R 636. They are totally different bikes.

The 636 has a much better engine but the 07-08 ZX-6R has a much better chassis and brakes (very good brakes). There's no doubt the 07-08 would be a quicker bike on the track even with the weaker engine.

I found the angle of the handlebars on the 636 totally sucked for my body. Within 2 minutes my wrists were hurting and I've never had that on a sportsbike before.

If you're considering both then you have to try both

I've owned the 03/04 636 and now the 07/08 ZX6r and both bikes were/are great. The 636 engine was more torque down low but the later bikes are more 'all on' above 10k. IMHO the engine power was hard to tell the difference apart from the delivery of it. Obviously my 07/08 is now much faster than my 03/04 but thats because it is far from standard now. I would suggest that for a road bike I would prefer the earlier model as it had power that was more usable on the road...your right about the bars tho...took a while for your body to accustom to them.

Buy either...they are both kick arse bikes! woooop!
