Trust me mate, if you try and go thru that sh1t without havin an outlet to have fun/relax/let off steam, ie Adv rides, its gonna suck way worse. I really feel havin my bike and bein out ridin with mates has kept me sane and depression free; well maybe not that sane, otherwise i wouldn't be headbuttin hillsides or racin over the 'Takas in Sunday eve traffic!

But ya know what I mean, and while I'm in the unemployed box, i'll come ride with ya anytime if you need to get out and relax or let off steam if it comes to the worst for you job wise mate!

    Cheers, Dave

    Getting Close To Home Now

The business owner of the group of companies where i am employed had a meeting with all staff today.

The outcome is that there will be several redundancies and merging of current roles to enable the business to ride out this current financial crisis.

We all find out monday whether we have jobs or not
Here for a good time, not necessarily a long time

This is getting depressing. Sorry to hear about that Joe and Mark.

We've been down sizing for the last few years, so hopefully we can ride it out for a bit longer. I'd be kidding myself if I thought we could last a hell of a lot longer though.

    Matt
There are two kinds of adventurers: those who go truly hoping to find adventure and those who go secretly hoping they won't. We should come home from our adventures having faced their perils and uncertainties, endured their discomfort and beaten the odds, with a sly acknowledgment and revitalised solidarity of character.

Just out of curiosity, is there any way you could buy one of the trucks and/or diggers & go out on your own ?
You know the customer base & your current employer isn't going to be servicing them any longer.

there are so many smaller 1 man bands around the wairarapa at present.
also a lot of farmers are buying there own machines now.
was talking to a farmer other day as i was drilling pole shed holes on his farm, 60 of them..
he was saying he spent $60,000 on digger works over last few years, and was asking what price he could pick up his own second hand digger for.

its just to hard and cost is to high to start from scratch.
not only machine to pay for but you need to transport it,
truck and trailer, or flat bed truck, then theres fuel reg, wofs, RUG,it adds up quick.
unless you have a machine desgined for a special job, say drilling, water pipe laying, every man and his digger can clean a drain or water table, even if he makes a mess.
he dosnt have to hire a machine and then pay for a operator to do the job, he can do, even if it takes him longer.

so now days its just not worth the hassel.
i did think about buying a heavy transporter truck and trailer, but again costings, then trying to pay for it.
    keep it working.

    cheers .

Ontrack are looking for good machine operators Joe. (not only digger work, but also guys willing to learn to operate placers/tampers etc).
They normally want guys who are settled in the area, as track safty certs etc need to be gained, and this means commitment on both sides.
    Could be suitable.
