    KLR mods

Hey anyone done the KLR mods sa per klr650.net? I've been reading up on them but the threads are 20 odd pages. I know I need a 7/64" drill for the slide (can you get them here?)but what about the #4 washer - are they metric?
As you can tell I'm no engineer but aparently it's pretty easy stuff. Anyone able to give me the readers digest condensed version on the mods?

    cheers

Dont worry I did some research & most of it is explained.

    asyou were

if you do all the freebie stuff (including de tweeting your exhaust and 'L modding' your air box you will get a noticeable improvement in 'snappyness'. One change by itself is hardly noticable.

Don't bother removing the mesh screen from the airbox

Nothing is for nothing so be prepared to lose a bit of economy (or in my case a vast amount of economy - from 390k to reserve down to 280km to reserve - when I put a stage 2 jetting kit in)

Ok what does de tweeting mean? Is it drilling the end of the muffler & removing the shit inside then putting on a nice big exit tube thing as seen on klr.net. Also couldn't find out what the Lmodding is - is it removing the thin piece of plastic sticking down fore of the snorkel (which I removed tonite- that is, if it is the rubber seal thing stickinginto the airbox)? Also what the hell is the screwdriver holder thing above the airbox?

What mesh screen? Oh hang on do you mean the one inside the air filter

Shit that's a lot of difference. As far as shimming the needle - where would I find the washers here? & what size would they be?

you cut the flat part of the top of the airbox out in the shape of an L - about 25mm wide and the legs and 75mm long - is fairly obvious when you look.

Made a bashplate today ready for a few welds. What do you think of the toolbox mounted at the front. Yes it will be alloy with a door on one side.

I tried to get the front wheel as close as I could to bottom out with a ratchet strap & I have a bit of room left. Anyone done one like this? Whatya think?

Pampa rides with a pack attached to front of his bashplate on his G650XC Beemer - don't think he has any hassles with it, see what he says!

Hey Padmei - are you going to protect the underneath bottom rails) of the crash bars at all?

I've been bashing the living shit out of mine and wonder how long before something breaks?
