A good place to free ride is the Dead forest, both north and south but heading in the right direction.
Free riding is cool but because our part of the forest is young its a bit of a mission due to the pruning waste and under growth. Take a pruning saw with ya next time
I suppose the main thing is to ensure that when you get back onto a track you are heading in the right direction. So unless you are totally familiar with all the tracks I wouldn't recommend going off piste. I got lost yesterday and ended up going around in circles for 30 minutes. Made a freakin cool track though.
that trail of doom is poo. Its just a long twisty boring trail. I really rate the woodchopper and that new one Blakes one??? and that one that starts off at the end of blakes one with the hill climb to start off. Can't wait to get out when I get back! Been months since I been on my bike!!!
Did a bit of free riding last thursday, nobody but 2 of us in the whole park. Out in the Dead forrest and even made it thru/ around the tussock to the superbowl. There's even some cool little climbs that go fairly steep and technical.... Fell off lots
Found an interesting new track that is marked 33 on the new map. Goes out by the farmland and if you miss the last right turn (hard right up hill) you end up crashing thru the cutty grass and back out onto the road. Simple two wire fence to cross then back down the road into the park!
You can scare the sh1t out of the person who saw you dissapear in the oppisite direction about an hour earlier just to come back thru the front gate. Good fun!
i like the short track that comes out just behind the toilet in the carpark, not on the map but it have a great uphill on it. just watch the tree stump in the center of the track at the base to the hill. bent my rear brake rotor on it a couple of weeks ago.
sxyrx7 where abouts does that track start?
"The world is a strange sad place. Ride as often as possible and try not to think about it".
Starts just up the road a bit, by the cones I think..
