Well if onearmedbandit can ride operate his gixxer 1k with only one bar and grip then surely your friend can sort a rig out that will suit.

Aw man. I'd just wrap my dick around the lever, tie a knot, then slide backwards when required.

You do what you can to ride. Years ago I smashed my left arm badly - compound fracture that severed one artery, and tore the other one. Had to have arterial grafts to save the arm. After 8 months I was still in a half cast. I wet it to straighten it; tendon damage meant my left hand was a claw (surgery has since fixed it); I hooked the "claw" over the clutch lever, and was able to operate my clutch using my shoulder muscles. The bike was no feather-weight either - a 1980 GSX1100.

Good on him. Where there's a will there's a way

The latest CBR1000RR has linked brakes - that sort of system might work. Or how about swap - have the front brake foot operated for more 'feel', and have a rear thumb-brake like stunters use?? It'd take a bit to get used to, but you can learn to do anything...

At the Redline trackday on Friday there was a guy on a Blue Rocket III.

I was quite please that I could pass him (only just) with my 600cc compared to his 2300cc
That was until my mate said "you did notice that he's got one arm right"
At first I thought he was pulling my leg - but the guy (I think his name was Ken) was piloting his Triumph with only his left arm.

Not sure how he does it but he was hustling around the track pretty damn quick. Apparantly he's pretty handy on the road too.

His name is Ken and he is very handy on the road.

He did ask me over the weekend if I had any recommendations for tweaking the linked system on his Rocket.

I did not - but coincidently had planned to ask the collective.

    He'd need a hydraulic specialist?

RM - your mate should be able to fabricate or have something fabricated to allow him to operate a bike. I now know two blokes that have lost an arm and still ride.

As an aside I did say to Ken 'You're a rude prick - we passed a Hog back there and you didn't wave.' Much mirth.

Two things, without knowing which fingerer and therefore how much force he can exert...

    1) If braking force is the issue, long levers giving more moment and more force onto the master cylinder, And opt for or fit a smaller diameter master cylinder

2)I have seen and will look for a double lever/ double master cylinder on one side arangment. I think it was for front and rear brakes with the lever on the right, but may work as a Clutch/front brake arrangment mounted on the left. Will look for it again....

Hi All, Im the mate scott is talking about.

Just to clear things up, i do have a full thumb and a first and last finger that finish at what would be the knuckle, these fingers can be used to opperate stuff. The other two fingers ( Very Very shot )are relativly usless. I can put up a pic if that would help.

Cheers for you help so far
