...6th overall. He is an incredible talent and one of the best and most determined riders ever in world MX. Came back several times from really bad injuries. A lot would have retired long ago...but I don't think if he goes back next year we will see him get the number 1 plate.

He's a bit like Aaron Slight or even Stirling Moss - one of the best riders/drivers ever to not win a championship.

I hope he proves me wrong and comes back next year and smokes 'em all.

In the mean time I reckon we should be stoked to have a top 10 rider in the MX World champs - we may look back on the Coppins years and miss not having a kiwi that can mix it up on the world stage. With injuries and performance there doesn't seem to be any kiwis set to fill his shoes. Townley can but injuries just keep getting in the way. Cooper can but what happened this year? Dobbin seems to be out for another 6 months....Columb is super fast but not quite at Coppins level (yet anyway)....Hurley has gone into semi-retirment....who else is going to replace him?

Therefore I hope he stays at least until some from NZ takes his place!

Good on him, its got to be bloody tuff against the young guys coming up
from mx2 . He has been over there forever , time to step back a bit and maybe enjoy being on top again in this part of the world . who cares if he comes back home and cleans up here and in oz easy , he deserves a good retirement for all the hard work lol. Shame really he just could not get that title, always a legend in my book thou.
