    ZX12R

Looking at buying another toy this year, if there is anyone who own, or has owned a ZX12 before, could you give me a breif description on reliabilty, performance etc.

Havn't had a chance to ride one yet, predicting it's going to be similar to a busa, which is a blast.

PM Death Inc. about them, he owned one for a while... Ive heard that they handle like shit, but still pull hard at 300kmh... are good for 330kmh on the speedo which is 312kmh (i think) once the revs and sprocket etc was worked out...

Cheers, missed reading that thread all together.

It looks a tad expensive for a 2000 model, but the examples i'm thinking of might be imports, which i don't want.

12's are wicked bikes...evil one could say. If you don't have much self control don't get a 12. It'll turn you into a 1 or 2 wheeled looney in no time .

Massive power and effortless open road qualities can see you "cruising" at BIG speed , much the same as the busa, but with better wind protction and a more relaxed riding position.

the busa has more torque and low end power than the 12(well it is 100cc's bigger), but the 12 really comes on strong up top.

I think the bus would be a better 2-up bike though.

The "open class" bikes are no 600/750/1000 bikes so you couldn't expect them to be as agile as a "pure" sportbike.
I have done 1 trackday on my 12 as was quite pleased at how well it got around the circuit compared to other bikes I had used on the track.

I like the bus aswell, but read on a registry site that they have cam chain/tensioner problems.

    I just want a big mile-eater.

Might keep the VTR just for short blasts out to Raglan, and general hooning around.

I've a mate who had a ZX12R for all of three months before he ditched it.

He said it handled like shit, was badly built, as uncomfortable as hell and felt like it was thrown together in a simple attempt to be fast while pretending to be a sports tourer. He had a Busa before the ZX. He's now found his senses and bought a Bird

I've never ridden one, so I guess this is just a second hand account and hearsay. Best you try before you buy as I've another mate that loves his. But I hear that it's not for the faint hearted, and demands real attention as it's an animal.

ZX12R hummm very fast . Thought of buying one before GSXR1000 talked to Death about his . Had read & been told about them doing clutch's & clutch basket's Death said he had done a couple I think . But had Draged it a fair bit . Great ride poistion & sharp looks to . But I think I'd go with the Busha for that Torque over 5kph top speed of the 12R
