    Dynajet In!

So, spent the whole day yesterday putting in the dynajet, took a bit of figuring out, as I was sprouting mechanical bones in my body that have previously not existed.

Took it for a ride last night, seems to have opened up the lower ranges quite considerably, which is nice, but it doesn't seem to have done anything for my top ranges.

So the next plan is for a new exhaust. I'm thinking cycleworks, as they have a nice klx300 kit that fits on a 250, and its NZ, and we all like to buy nz made aye? Anyone dealt with them before? Good exhausts?

Also, how do you tell if your bike is running lean? Any tell tale signs? I took the snorkel out to allow more air in and to balance up the increase of fuel, but I think it may have gone too far?

Easiest way to tell is to take it for a good ride then pull the spark plug out. The plug colour and whether it looks damp or not will tell you how it's running overall.

My Haynes manual has pictures of plugs under different conditions and there's bound to be info on the net that describes what to look for.

Well done Sam - glad you saw some improvement after your hard work!

With the Cycleworks pipe on my DR, it smells like its running rich to me(and EddieB thought it may be on our ride last weekend). Just got her back today so tomorrow may have a look at it more closely as I have no idea if anything has been done to the airbox yet, and as for the carb - sheesh that'll be a challenge for me. Actually with the backfiring etc etc am sure something needs doing to it! (yeah like puttin the stock exhaust back on would be good!)
    Cheers, Dave

Stick your finger in the pipe and see how much soot you get.
Should only be a light smear and not black.

PS. Not while it's hot if you like your fingerprints

haha, yea, to a certain extent... then there's the whole idea about 'make it into what you want it to be'. Have to say, it'd be very rewarding being able to stand back and say 'That's what I want my bike to be. And I got it to that stage'.

It will backfire with an aftermarket pipe.
The only way of reducing it is chainging the pilot/piolt air jets.
It's still there but not as much.
