Do the second, no gravel the on the first route. Then again the Upper buller wiggles are pretty cool too. Actually definitely do the second (via springs on the way south as you will have to do the Upper Buller on the way north from the New Creek Denniston track looksee.
For those of you doing this ride that have a GPS and have never looked at my website (see signature) before most of the the tracks you will be doing are on my web site if you want them.
Cheers R

OK what was the final date you're coming over on? Might join yous guys
was actually thinking of the direct route to allow time to do Waitahu River but via the Maruia Saddle might be a better choice - we can argue the toss on the ferry or at Murchsion over a coffee - I'm happy to go with the flow as either option will be fun (Waitahu River is much knarlier than Muruia etc)
going buy marks plan. we in picton one night and reefton two nights.
i like to sort my bed out quick smart, as we will be ariving in picton quite late, i feel. need to give camp people good notice.
ya just never know ifs theres another group a head off your self and ya end up sleeping on the dirt....im to old for dirt now days.

Nah, he'll be safe as he pussied out on riding the black beastie and is on the blue meenie from Aslan instead! Claims he was just ensuring I had a ride available for the weekend if I needed to go for a blat while you guys were off having buckets of fun, but I reckon he's just lost his nerve in his old age!
