No need for me to book then if you've already got the cabin?

Work has suggested I start using some accumlated annual leave so have decided to join Dave & Joe's explore around Picton on Thursday. But since I get grumpy if I miss my beauty sleep I will be travelling on the Wednesday 6:25pm sailing. Will bunk down in the motorcamp which will allow us to stash our gear for the exploration.

Hi ya guys, just though i'd stick me nose in here and mention a thread i started
    http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/sh...ighlight=ferry
BMWST kindly suggested he might like to hook up with you fellas when ya head south, so i passed his cell number on to him, to forward to someone who's going on the trip !
Not 100% sure where he stands as in timing goes to meet up, but i'm sure he'd appreciate the opportunity !
    Cheers Bill
A girlfriend once asked " Why is it you seem to prefer to race, than spend time with me ?"
The answer was simple ! "I'll prolly get bored with racing too, once i've nailed it !"

    Bowls can wait !

booked under our 3 names - just turn up
There are two kinds of adventurers: those who go truly hoping to find adventure and those who go secretly hoping they won't. We should come home from our adventures having faced their perils and uncertainties, endured their discomfort and beaten the odds, with a sly acknowledgment and revitalised solidarity of character.

As the group size is getting towards the largish end of things what do you guys think of using the cornerman system for all 'non tar seal' bits?

I'm presuming that everyone will have maps and can find their own way to places like St Arnaud/Reefton/Nelson/Picton so on the sealed sections we could get by with infrequent regroups.

    your thoughts?

you have a group lead bike. who should know where he is going.

every time he turns at a turn off on road, next bike behind waits on the turn off to show which way to go, he then rejoins the group when he see tail end charlie.

mark if you like to do this, i nominate my self as tail end charlie.

is a good way to keep the group rolling....

I don't think they need to wait until the tail end Charlie comes along.
You just need to make sure the person behind you knows where to go.
If they can't see the person behind them, then they wait until they are sure the next person knows where to go.

Combine that with regular group catch ups and everything should be sweet.

    Just my 10cents worth.

    P.S
sounds a bit grim, but I think we all should have an ICE (In case of emergency ) number flagged in our cell phones.
Makes it a lot easier to contact the right people if something unfortunate happens.

Thats very generous of you Jo - thanks

While no one is supposed to pass the lead rider (I suppose that would be me - and I aint no rocket ship) I suspect if people know where they are going then its fine if they head off into the distance and just wait when they aren't sure where to go next (and if they get lost then fookem)

anyone think this is a bad idea????

If something looks dodgy then wait for others with cameras before attempting.

    Simple really.

Wait for the others to arrive after making sure dodgy bit is in focus?

If everyone understands the rules your suggestion is certainly easier as it looks after itself and doesn't require anyone to always be tail end charlie.

when you mean an ICE number - do you mean wife/partner etc?
