I've been a bit busy since I got back, so here's a BIG thanks to everyone involved. I had an absolute blast, and have to get down there again sometime soon.
My eye is almost fully open again, but got heaps of shit at work today. I think it made it all the more enjoyable bringing home some battle scars (note to self: no more showing off when there's a camera around).
The little DRZ made it back in one piece, but I feel a larger bike might be on the cards very shortly. Those straights from St Arnard to Picton almost drove me insane. It might be time to slow down and buy an armchair.
Cheers guys, we'll have to do it again, real soon.
Marks & I are now back on the NI. We had another beautiful day to explore Mt Arthur & any gravel heading towards Nelson.
At Wakefield we headed into Waione Gorge? & explored some fabulous tracks but on the gravel road out I ran wide on a corner & ended in a culvert. Then next minute there were 5 people helping to tow the bike out. It looked trashed & unrideable so it was loaded onto the back of a truck & taken to Wakefield. It was absolutely awesome how these strangers insisted on doing everything they could to help
Where we decided it was cosmetic damage, so removed broken front fairing & headlight & aligned the forks. Rode straight thru to Picton, seeing Nordie Boy on his way back - sorry we missed you on the Maungatapu.
Marks lead me safely home in the dark thru downtown Wellington, thanks mate. I presume the incriminating photos will be up tomorrow![]()

glad to hear you walked awa OK Andy Mac - the sort of help you received from the folks who help you out of your pickle restores ones faith in humanity doesn't it - ciao![]()
those who mind don’t matter, and those who matter don’t mind..
Cheers Mark. At the time I wasn't in the mood for taking photos.
Glad to hear your OK Andy, that looks like a pretty big hit.
Dunno whats happening here though, you crashed the Transalp more times and did a lot more damage than even Dave did to his DR on this trip.
You're normally the stable in control one.

Jeeze Andy, you must be made of rubber to bounce away from that one !
Honda's are tough tho, good that you got it back on the road to complete your journey and not let the team down(not like the trailer trash Kwaka team)

Looks like a big hit there Andymac, happy to see you walked away from it.
Around these parts you never have to wait long for someone to give you and the bike a lift home.
I mentioned vegetables once, but I think I got away with it...........
Now come on Andy, you're the steady sensible one - its only supposed to me that does head on smashes in the steady-eddy group!
Glad you're ok mate and hope there's no lingering injuries! How's the T/A? Salvageable? Yet another photo that convinces me to avoid fibreglass on a dualsport/adv bike though!
Cheers, Dave
