Awesome weekend guys. Absolutely loved it. Might be on the lookout for a new helmet though.

Got home just after 1am. Weather was absolute crap over the Rimutakas. Glad I trailored to Welly.

I'll sift through the 300 photos I took, and throw a few on this afternoon.

Here's a few random shots. I'll have to figure out how to dump them all onto a website, so you guys can sift through the full size jobs.

Most of these were up Big River. Maruia Saddle was awesome (except for the wee ooops I had). Traction was great. They don't seem to have the papa and mud we get up this way. You'll have a ball.

No problemo. Maruia Saddle has fairly shallow water crossings and good approaches. The Braeburn Track ones are all nicely constructed concrete lined fords. Easily doable when well over axle/footpeg depth, the one closest to Murch is by far the deepest so don't be put off thinking it could get worse. I did have a real good look though, to check there weren't any logs/boulders rolled onto the ford by the swift current. Also use the normal stream crossing approach: start upstream, ease downstream with the current so you aren't fighting it so much. That was after a few weeks of good rain, and it had been raining much of that day/evening - yeah it was night the first time I did it and never seen it that deep again.
    Cheers,
    Colin

Bart your photos are fantastic. Well done. if there are any good ones of... ahem.. moi, I would appreciate a copy . There'll be a lot of competition for photo of the trip between all the others on the Japanese tour bus.

You got any of your eye?

I will go over the video tonite but won't be able to youtube it for a few months till I get a new pc (unless someone can edit it for me & put it up... hint hint Nordie)

Anyways the bloody job I HAD to do 1st thing this morning only ended up taking an hour so could have been cruising thru the Golden Bay on the absolutely perfect day we had here today.
