Sorry I have been a bit quiet, catching up on work and sleep - but I have been enjoying the posts and photos all week.
It was a great weekend with great company - a bonus with the weather and riding! Thanks guys and thanks Mark! Had an uneventful run back to Picton just ahead of Jim, Dave, Steve, Bart and Eddie. Being slow I kept moving and only saw them at St Arnaud and once we were on board.
Right shoulder and arm is sore. Luckily I can sleep on my left side after weeks with sore ribs on the left. You people are a bad influence.
Really pleased the InterIslander came through with the fares and was really good about changing without problems, so various of you could enjoy another day in the South. Sounds like Andy's "cheap" fare ended up being quite expensive (with his bonus day off) though! I will pass on our thanks to the marketing team.
Some more shots. Steve with Pooey's relatives. Nordie Boy skirting the ice at the Big River Mine site. Lunch at our Reefton "day base". Mark and I are very much aligned when it comes to coffee stops being a core part of Adventure Riding. . Jim awash in a mud wallow. He wanted me to hold his bike up while he changed sides. Still having dry boots at this stage I managed to do so by reaching from the shallows! The Sunday night crew on board Kaitaki and Dave sorting his tobacco. What he thinks is in there I don't know - a mystery prize or more broken DR parts?
We DO need to do this again. Something to begin organising next time we are in Toppy's.

"As for me, I am tormented with an everlasting itch for things remote. I love to sail forbidden seas, and land on barbarous coasts." ― Herman Melville
Up Waitahu River Road we ended up at "1". "2" is the end of the track on GE 3km away. "3" is the other end of Kirwins Track from Cronadun.
Here's my track log, I got a bit further and there was no way I wasn't on the correct road... but so were all the downed/drowned trees and I could clearly see the road continue on the other side of the blockage.
