be good if you could match the bike colour when ya paint them.
The other aspect is that I enjoyed fabricating them. But wasn't as cheap as I thought initially. I'd say the $250 quote you got earlier would be on the money (or even cheap) if you included all materials & time.
IT'S JUST BETTER WHEN THERE'S TWINS INVOLVED..

prices from $250 up to $375.

so i brought the steel my self.
    4 meters 10mm smooth round.
    1m 40mm x 3mm flat plate.

    total cost $23.

headed off to my brothers to day to use he gear. it still needs final clean up, paint and refitting, before finished.
i moved the bike tool container out from under the guard, so its a bit more easy to get to.
i left aprox 2omm clearance between pipe and bag, didnt get hot on way home tonight. so happy with that.
over all im happy with whats come out of the afternoons work.

aprox 4 hrs work, can be removed easy enough.

thanks heaps for all who added there pics and thought to this thread.
I hope you can lift the bike with them, cos the first guy to help you pick your bike up(does that happen?) will grab those nice tubes!

Really good efforts. Been given some soft panniers so will look to make supports that sit out over plastics and exhaust.

Won't have any ready for the Cold Kiwi. Getting by though.

I can't weld so I'll be paying for some.

...but I have thought about bolting a box section alumium section to space out over exhaust, 3mm plate rectangle to support pannier, u bracket onto frame to support rectangle....I'll be running it past an engineer....

I gave goodvibes a PM other day and said i had a spare set of pannier racks i had wiped up for a trip north, and welcome to come over and see if there any good.

goodvibes came over for a visit and we set about fitting the racks,, they might as well been made for the bike, and fitted in like a glove...

i also had a spare venture travel bag,,, and that also left for wellington the same day...so over all one happy adventure, with rack and bag on board...

my pleasure to help you out, and hope to see you on the gravel one day..
