I have just finished a new bottom guide for my soft bags, It is made from 16mm stainless tube, I made a prototype first from wire and then used hand benders to shape, there is a 50mm flat bar running down from the sub frame at the back, the soft bags have a top clip system that I clip onto the grab handles at the rear. they are cycle panniers

ok prices were to much for me to pay for some one to build my racks for me.
prices from $250 up to $375.

so i brought the steel my self.
    4 meters 10mm smooth round.
    1m 40mm x 3mm flat plate.

    total cost $23.

headed off to my brothers to day to use he gear. it still needs final clean up, paint and refitting, before finished.
i moved the bike tool container out from under the guard, so its a bit more easy to get to.
i left aprox 2omm clearance between pipe and bag, didnt get hot on way home tonight. so happy with that.
over all im happy with whats come out of the afternoons work.

aprox 4 hrs work, can be removed easy enough.

thanks heaps for all who added there pics and thought to this thread.

    Soft pannier rack

Here's mine, made from mild steel 12.7mm x 2.0mm tube. All welded up, but not yet painted. . Not bad for V1.0 (discounting the early attempt with thin wall tube). Spot the deliberate mistakes though.

Considering it. Have a silver epoxy in the garage. But black would blend in better, especially against the side covers. The other important consideration is that black will limit how much the birdshit welding stands out....
