Here's a couple of sites that might be of interest to you guys heading up the Orongorongo river. This one has the water levels just below the water intake about 15-20km up the river. http://www.gw.govt.nz/story910.cfm It says it is only updated 6 weekly, but seems to be very current if you cut the dates down to the last week or two.

This site has a serries of Jpgs of Topographical maps of the Orongorongo area, that one of you might want to print out. http://www.orongo.50g.com/map_page.htm

    Have fun.

    Cheers

Well done Joe, you've earned your beer tonight!

I probably wouldn't remove my starter without supervision. What are we looking at in photo 2? Are the magnets the square things?

so we'll see you in the morning

Iv'e been a busy boy too - new 15T front sproket (16T left to big a gap from 1st 2nd as I found out behind Shannon), Girly muffler removed and Jardine refitted to get back the 'snap' it had, serrated pegs fitted (nearly went tits up on that muddy trail off Tokimaru Valley Rd last weekend with muddy foot slipping off rubber footpeg) so hopefully I will all ready for some knarsty stuff in the morning

I've also been busy in the garage. New filter & engine oil. Fork spring spacers & more oil. Experimented with windscreen extensions but needs testing on calm day. Removed rubber inserts from footpegs - only a 10mm bolt & serrated pegs hiding underneath.

Planning to replace the tyres before KCR so have been reading the tyre forum. Overload, overload.

So going for a ride to the Brooklyn windmill & airport radar station now. CU tomorrow.

Balrog do you want to meet at 8 at Shell Miramar?

man what a mess it was in there.

water had got in through a rubber seal not set correct by factory.

can see the seal in one of the pics, the two marks on rubber where it was not fitted correct.

in side case was a lot of water damage, up front and along the bottom, see pic.
at the back, the magnets where stuck in, as they should be springy..nope. so cleaned everything up, got around 6mm play on all magnets, put it back togeather and she burst in to life....yipy.
Hmmm not the first instance i have seen of this on a dr, may pay to check regular if going through water or washing your bike.

PS. Not a DR vs KLR thing, just info.
Unless you wanna make my day??
I mentioned vegetables once, but I think I got away with it...........

Hey Joe, a minor correction - what you refer to as magnets are in fact carbon brushes that, as you say, get the power to the copper commutator. (just noting in case someone pulled the brushes out and thought they were buggered because they were not magnetic)

If you are ever desperate for replacement brushes, you can find similar things in car starter motors or generators. Carbon is soft enough to file to size.

have a great time tomorrow, sorry I can't be joining you all. Economics and suchlike.
it's not a bad thing till you throw a KLR into the mix.
those cheap ass bitches can do anything with ductape.
