How about a Suzuki Intruder VL250? They look way better than the GN.

I had a GN250 for a while and its pretty bomb proof and holds value for re sale later so highly reccomend this bike if your spot one for sale, second hand i reckon would be the way to go for the short time you'll own it considering your 'issues' for want of a better word.
I bought all my gear second hand on Trade Me and was stoked at my sometimes half price prchases for something hardly used.
Just be wary of second hand helmuts, may pay to buy one new??
Off topic, give something helpfull to arnfix alright.
He said a the start he was looking for a jincheng, jincheng are quite frankly the cheapest 250s new on the market. The vl250 are expensive theres no denying that, im sure if arnfix had the money he wouldnt be suggesting buying the jincheng in the first place. However i once looked at chinese bikes and ended up with the mighty GN250 the best for there price, very cheap affordable bikes.
As they say, try allsorts. Had a GN for a while, loved it apart from the fact that it gave me severe back ache and a numb arse. Might tell you if your right for a cruiser.
DUDE!!!!!
Seriously if you can't get an exemption then you should test ride a few to get a feel. Something like a hornet CB250 or dare I say it a hyobag (hyosung for those not in the know) GT250 or even a suzi or honda 250 cruiser could do the trick. I have a mate who's 6'1 who just got a VL250 and he said it was very comfortable.

I just got back from having a look around town. The GN250 felt veeeery small, which was a touch annoying.
Was a little foolish though. Sat on a VL250. It felt soooooo good. I suspect I will have to sell my flatmates kidneys to afford it, but it's a small price to pay.
Go the VL250
Get one kidney from two flatmates, it's more humane.
I'm a bit over 6' and have a VL250, it is actually a little small, but only slightly (also, it's made for people with tiny feet.. to have my left foot in the right place on the peg, it puts the shifter in a soft spot on my boot, which it is quickly wearing out..) But I don't think it's so small that I would get away with an exemption. I'm only 65kg though so you'd get some leverage there.
There were a few other new riders on here when I bought mine that were also on VL250s, some of which were in your weight range and said that they carried them around fine.. but I'd expect the 250 to be veeery sluggish, I always want more power out of mine as it is.. and I had someone on the back of mine a few weekends ago, didn't go too fast but it did feel much weaker.
The other thing to consider is that if you CAN get the exemption, you get one shot at doing the full test early (the test is done on the bike you intend to ride) if you pass, you are straight onto your full, if you don't pass well enough you still have to live out the normal licence periods, and you get an exemption to ride that specific bike.
Haha told ya, Chinese bike are just freaking unreliable, that's just money down the drain. They maybe good at making rice cooker but other than that flammable PJs and Lifan motorcycle just don't cut it for me.
Personally the VL I felt it fits nice and comfortable for me, I'm 5"10, but for someone over 6" it will feel too small after awhile. I reckon you can make do with it since it is not alot more expensive than the GN but It should last you for a while until you can move up to, say a Suzuki Boulevard, or a VL 650, those will fit you much better for your size. Shop around for a good deal.
I agreed. Even though I'm 75kg, it feels very sluggish on the motorway, get push around easy with car and winds. It can hold up 100-110 but quite a vibration for a Single Cylinder, numb hands after a while.Originally Posted by Irontusk
