    Wel conquiztador.....wonder no more......
How much is a clear concience worth?
What's the value of looking in the mirror for a shave without feeling shame?
Shame you couldn't see the same guy 30 years or so from now....
There are more ways then one to value somebodies "worth"....

Trust me most lowlives burn out and crash way before their time...
Opinions are like arseholes: Everybody has got one, but that doesn't mean you got to air it in public all the time....

Mate. I've been teaching for years. Do you think we DON'T try to educate these kids? Do you think we don't try to instil decent values into them? I let nothing go by and take every opportunity to address respect for others' property, respect for the immediate and wider environment, respect for each other and for staff. But some (and I can only think of a handfull in recent years) struggle to see the big picture. For them gang culture can be very attractive and glamorous. I'm just glad that I teach at a good school. If I'm honest, I don't think I could deal with that crap day in - day out.

Thanks for the honesty, that is unfortunately what actually happens to most teachers, good or bad,
My mum taught for many years and like you and many(but not enough) others she fought it all the way.
My apologies fro making it sound so easy, I know it's not, but if it were possible to hold onto them and make their damned parents responsible and take the rap for them , then it would actually work.
I did make allowance for the few, that's my own idea.Harsh perhaps, but it's time we looked after the rest of us not the criminals.
Many thanks for teaching the kids and for trying so hard, I'm sure you have great days and bad days like the rest of us out there working, but if like my mum you do it right for just one they come back and say hi and they show you what you did for them. I hope that goes along way to helping you keep going.

Cheers for that. Like most jobs there are good days and bad. I was a teacher's worst nightmare when I was a kid so whenever they're playing up I just think it's payback (can even laugh when I recognise myself in them).

In comparison to teaching in the UK (and it's a broad comparison) I find Kiwi kids more willing to work through a problem and they don't require as much spoon-feeding. School's just a much more positive environment here. I'd give up teaching if I had to go back to the UK.

Anyway, back to the subject at hand: Harleys are great but some of the owners are dicks. I think that's where we're up to? ;-)

I sympathise...some teachers must feel like they're wasting their time...they put so much effort into trying instil some morals and principles into kids that go home to a 'family' unit where none of those things exist...
