And don't forget that not only would you not be insured riding illegally, but if you have an accident, get fined etc, you will have trouble getting insurance at any time in the future even when you are legal. Just suck it up and do it legally. You'll be a better rider for it in the end.

Seeing as you've stated your license (and I'm inferring, by extension a clean record) is vital to your job- keep it legal.

I searched through over 15 pages in this section and couldn't really find it so decided to post a new thread.

Bigger than 250 = $400 plus 25 demerits
Exceeding the 70kph condition = $400 plus 25 demerits
No L plate = $400 plus 25 demerits
Carrying a pillion = $400 plus 25 demerits
On the road between 10pm and 6am = $400 plus 25 demerits

And just to clarify, it is $400/25pts each. So worst case scenario it is potentially possible to rack up $2000 and 125 points in one sitting. Congratulations, you are now walking for 3 months. And considering your learner status (regardless of other licence classes, that is what you are) quite possibly your licence(s) will be revoked.

Of course, your experience might be different...not everyone gets hit that hard even when caught.

There is a difference between HTFU'ing and giving poor advise.

Sure - all could be good - but it would be stupid to overlook the potential pitfalls and offer poor advise when asked.

Im sure we would all feel fucken terrible if the kid went out and got a gixxer and killed himself going for a huge blat - having told him to HTFU and do it.

Very rarely - Im a nana on the bike - and people who have ridden with me will attest to that.

Having said that there is a difference in doing something and encouraging a noob rider to do the same.

Seriously riding at whatever speed you feel comfortable at after you have amassed some experience and skill is different to tellign some kid who has just passed his basic handling that its ok to head out and do 160. Because they simply dont have the skillset to do it properly.
