drivers face fines and demerit points if they break the conditions of their restricted and learner licences. Drivers breaking the conditions of their learner or restricted licence will face:

a $400 infringement fine
a 25 demerit point penalty.

The less serious driver licence offence penalties have a $1,000 maximum fine, while the more serious have a $4,500 maximum. The most serious licensing offence, of driving while disqualified or contrary to limited licence, carries a maximum fine for a third or subsequent offence of $6,000. The period of imprisonment for this offence is 2 years.

I 100% support this concept. If I ride fast I risk my life, I might be OK with doing that but would hate to advise someone else to ride fast then find out they crashed and died as a result. Advising others to be reckless is not a good idea.

Just get a Suzuki RGV 250 or the Aprillia RS250. Learner legal and you can still kill yourself.

That is a case of someone who has lost their licence (DIC perhaps) but has applied for, and been granted, a licence for work only (say). I doubt that this provision covers learner/restricted licences.

Yes but read the first part of the post - that covers the learner/restricted parts.

The second half was additional info, and it does state what is covers, as to what you can expect if caught again, or you breach your excemption conditions...

I have to say, especially if you cant afford to risk your licence for work, just get a 2 fiddy, I mean there are some pretty quick 250's out there, and plenty of people on here would be willing to help you out with advice etc on what to get. RGV, TZR, RS 250, or FZR, CBR, GSXR 250, are just a few reasonably quick 250's!!! I have a TZR as well as my 600, and she is HEAPS of fun!!

So, you reckon that 3 separate instances of conditions breach could result in $6000 and or 2 years inside?

Not really worth the risk.
Apart from the dangerous 70kph thing, none of it is worth risking.

Eggzachary.

$21.00 dollars to apply for exemption to ride a bigger bike, if thats what you wish for. Compared to $400.00 + potential loss of license and or bigger fines, (rarely inside time, although it does depend on the circumstance which led to the person being pulled over and stopped). I know which of the two sensible options I'd be taking, if I was in the same situation....

OK , so it takes all sorts and this is a multi cultural, race, religion,sexed forum, but!
To those who appear to have been here for some time and who should know better than to advise anyone to go to a bigger machine without first gaining some very real experience, I'd say "PHOEY" yer all nutz and damnded irresponsible to boot.
As an older returned to riding after 15 yrs without a bike bloke, I find it abhorrent to see this sort of garbage expounded as free speech.
It is garbage and it is irresponsible.
Yes I go faster than the law allows occassionally but it's when theres just me and the road, not in town on a rocket ship that I'm not qualified to pilot.
I understand that some here simply post to bait others and perhaps I've got the whole hook line and sinker, but I don't care, this is a serious matter and to think that some of us can't keep it straight enough to make sensible comment sickens me.

Your intent is laudable caseye, but spend enough time here and you'll realise that the only people listening are the ones who want to learn, but don't really need all that much help.

In the meantime, don't take it as a personal slight that some of the "oldtimers" have pretty much given up.

I still reckon the Salvage company is a good idea. I could franchise it and we could specialise in picking those who are instantly disqualified and then lecture ceaslessly all the way home. We even have people privvy to Police comms on here, so for a suitable under the table retainer, I'm sure the local franchise holder could be despatched about 20 seconds after the Police.

id love to get my hands on a RS250. to be honest it shouldnt be legal to ride one on a learners, i think my 600 would be safer.

I happen to know of someone who knows someone that has a bigger bike on their learners who understands that its too damn expensive to buy a 250, ride it for a year for commuting in and out of work only

If you have taken into consideration the other comments about insurance and fines then i'd say youve made up your mind.

but then again
