Check the paper - Seems Gary McPhee is thinking about rebuilding
Gary McPhee doesn't have any permissions to rebuild. It is unlikely that he will get any until a robust business plan is submitted to the Regional Council, as a minimum.
"Standing on your mother's corpse you told me that you'd wait forever." [Bryan Adams: Summer of 69]
Nice bloke, tough as nails, about to meet his toughest challenge. He will need to sink vastly more money into the project than he will see back in his lifetime.
It's 13kms of twisties between Kaitoke Gardens on the Hutt side, and Featherston on the other side. The scenic carpark has a place, but the filthy loos and dodgy hardly ever open cafe isn't a necessity, is it? On a bad traffic day it takes 30 minutes to traverse that distance, less than half that for the most Nana rider on a quiet day. If your bladder is that stuffed that you can't make that distance, and your thinking is so solidified that change makes you angry to the point of irrational behaviour then maybe bikes aren't the best place for your arse (generally speaking of course - not you Pete - you're one of those "flexible" motorcyclists).
If a man is alone in the woods and there isn't a woke Hollywood around to call him racist, is he still white?
Surely you Wellingtonians have a pie cart that can do the business in the interim?
"stuff everything, I've still got my bike"-Ogri
Seriously, why?
If a man is alone in the woods and there isn't a woke Hollywood around to call him racist, is he still white?
Its all irelevent though, sure its an end of an era but it was coming anyway, the plan to cut the top 3 corners of this hill is past planning and consent stage, id expect to see works starting there in spring, so your right he wouldnt get consent to build there because there wont be anywhere to build
RIP SUMMIT CAFE & RIP MULDOONS CORNER,
Lots of us motorcyclists are sorry to see the Cafe slip into the state it has
in the last 6 years.
Hats off to anyone that tried to save the place.
Too many people with self interest at heart to make the place work I think.
Councils all wanting it gone, Harry Memelink not meeting his power obligations.
It's a shame it's gone completely now. Mr McPhee is saying all sorts of thing's and really he's not doing himself any favours. He's not on the same page as the councils, or the people.
He'll not get re-elected so he's quitting. When the going get's tough the
weak run for cover.......bye bye Gary McPhee.
Tidy the place up, put in some picnic tables and maybe some info signs...done.
Oh yeah, how many other mayors did ya see put in the effort and actually go up there to look the place over that day...?
Good on him I say.
Let the good times roll
