    Motorcycle parking at Auckland Airport

Need to go the airport sometime next week to see someone off, and because the car's already got 4 passengers, I thought I'd get there myself instead of trying to carpool (I swear, this is not an excuse to go for a ride in the middle of work )

Anyway, reading on the Auckland Airport's website, this is what it says about parking for bikes:

Motorbikes can park in the spaces dedicated to cars. If you are unsure where to park upon your arrival, please speak to a parking attendant who will point you in the right direction. Motorbikes are not permitted to park on any footpaths, walkways or in front of entry/exit doors. Motorbikes that are parked illegally will recieve an infringement notice and may be towed away.
Does it mean that I just go into the short-term, uncovered parking as I normally would if I was in my car, take a ticket as I go in, and then when I want to leave, I just go around the barrier? (I'm assuming there's enough space for a bike to get out? I've been meaning to find this out but never had the chance to park my bike in an covered parking where there are barriers...). Thanks!

I park in the covered car park right by the Domestic terminal. Free and covered.

Hmm... don't know my way around the airport well enough but at the risk of sounding like a lazy bastard... does that mean I have to walk more than 10 metres to get to the international terminal from the domestic terminal parking?

I'll only be there for 0.5-1 hour max, so not too concerned about cover/security (have a chain + disc lock... plus it's a Yamaha Scorpio ), that's why I thought I'd park in the uncovered parking

Just saw this thing in the Auckland Airport's website too... the low emission parking for vehicles with engines under 1.6L, maybe if I should park my bike there, it's apparently a lot closer to the terminal

If you try ride round the barrier you will soon find out how fast the airport police can arrive haha. For internationl, take ticket park in car park space, pay ticket..leave. It's the way it is. With domestic you could probably squeeze in somewhere.

Forgive me, but isn't never paying for parking one of the reasons people ride bikes? It's a bit like queuing at lights...

There must be a way around this one, either on government-supported congestion-busting grounds or the herding cats theory.

Then again Auckland Airport must be one of the least friendly corporations to deal with as a user.

Can't comment on the queuing at lights part since... being a relatively new rider, I filter a lot less than I should But yes, parking, that's why I thought I'd ask for some advise here... don't think I'm brave enough to try to go around the barriers and find out though, so guess it's back to paying when I go to the airport

Go round the barriers or over a footpath somewhere to get out. Everyone does it you'll be fine.

Hey everyone's gotta start somewhere, and in my defense, I'm still on my 6R so I'm still learning the "ways of the bikers"

I am interested as well. I have to pick up my son on boxing day. I have seen a few bikes in the short tearm park. I wounder how they got in there and if they had to take a ticket do they pay.
I know at Christchurch airport They had dedicated parks for bikes which were free.
I wait with baited breath lol

Instead of going straight into the carpark where the barriers are, go left and that takes you nearer to the terminal in the "drop-off" parking area. Go just past the arrivals area and on your right there is a nice place to ride through the pedestrian access into the carpark. A couple of bollards to keep cages from driving through, but most suitable for a bike to get through. Ride across and park in a space as per their requirements.
