Not if you go via Ormondville(from Norsewood) Dannivirke, left at Oringi, right on to Hopelands. In fact you can bypass Woodville altogether to get to Pahiatua.. All good sealed back country roads.

Or cut across Takapau to Ormondville(2 ways to go if you've know the roads). Selections are wide and varied . Or cut on to Te Uri(from Ormondville), Weber, Pongaroa(gas and pies avialable here, but 91 and deseol only iirc) etc bypassing Dannevirke, Woodville, Pahiatua and Eketahuna.

Or you could just follow Bonez and he's bound to lead you all over the place. Good stuff eh?

Lower N.I has some of the best bike roads around.
Come off the Mangawekas and hang a left to come down through Kiwatea and Kimbolton. Great roads and awesome scenery. Then its a small hop to carry on over the Paihiatua Track to meet SH 2.
    Have fun.

Nup...they're talking 'bout fingers. And that's each.
Is the OP confused enough by now? SH1 starting to sound easier?
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

Yea man, do the vinegar hill road as well. This is shaping up to be a pretty sweet day of riding for you....
