So Monday morning was a little different ... I commuted with my Father on the back of his bike so we were a little slower than normal (I don't take pillions often enough to be that confident).
Anyway as we made our way along SH2 heading into Wellington we eventually had to start splitting past cars. I noticed a bike ahead sitting in traffic (not that unusual), but then I saw further ahead a cop on a bike - DOH! Now I'm never too sure what to do when there is a cop ahead. I don't split at speed but I do figure I might as well take advantage of the situation and get out of peoples way!
So we started to swap lanes (indicating of course) to make our way up towards the cop (who was just sitting in the 'fast' lane). Within about 2 minutes of doing this we were a couple of cars behind the cop. I say we because by now there were 5 or 6 of us! The inside lane was traveling faster so we all used it and cruised past the cop.
As we went past the indoor sports centre some of the bikes (2 or 3 of them) had gotten about 60 metres further ahead of us and we were about 20 or 30 metres in front of the cop. For some reason 1 of the bikes decided to pass a bunch of cars up the inside and the cop noticed it so lights up his Christmas tree and takes off past us in pursuit.
We get around the bend (under the Petone bridge) and a little further up there is this guy stopped by the cop. As we rode past he was pointing at me and the guy following me (not sure why, but I did feel bad that he had been stopped).
Anyway ... after all this carry on ... Was it you that was stopped? Did you get booked? I'm hoping you only got some 'helpful' advice from the cop (I got some of that 'helpful' advice recently while riding my mountain bike).
