Okay went for another ride and yes again, another red discharge. She's bleeding bad now with smears all over the trailer. So took off chain and front sprocket. Tussock wound tight around shaft. Plenty of it wrapped and twisted so tight it was like hemp rope. Kept pulling it out and out. Once it was all out I leaned bike over and engine oil gushed freely out. Don't know if the 'rope' flogged out the seal or was hiding a faulty seal problem. Anyways, all you Tussock Busterians, it may be prudent to check what's behind your front sprocket.
At least you found it mate and it wasn't a flogged out bearing that stuffed the seal. A new seal because of a bit of tussock sounds like quite a good result compared to what it could have been.
