Funding for a bike? From where?

A mate wants a bike. Badly. And now.

    But he has no money.

Came to me asking if I could help. But as I am a single dad with 3 boys (and there is the MotoX for 2 of them...) an looking to upgrade my self, I don't have any spare $$'s.

He has no house. Really nothing apart from a car and a job. I did not have any answers.

    Any ideas?

May the bridges I burn light the way.

As long as his credit rating is ok he should be able to get a loan from one of the lesser known finance companys though the problem there is the finance rate is likely to be huge,ok if he can pay it off quickly i guess.

Don't we all. Helping him deeper into dept isn't helping him at all.

Don't do it. Let him save up or get a better income.

Have to agree, If he can service a loan and the expenses of running the bike and gear, go for it, otherwise wait.

In saying that; go to credit union, they love giving loans as long as you show you can pay it off

Am sure there are,he may well be best to spend some time on the phone ringing round the ones out of the yellow pages, would help if his cars not to old and worth a bit,can use anything like hps ie Smiths city etc as a credit reference. The problem is i guess the finance rate,as i said not so bad if hes able to pay it off quickly.

Yeah credit unions are very helpful. Putting 20 bucks away every week feels small, but quite quickly theres a grand there, and then they will talk turkey.

I think if he was a good mate, and knowing your circumstances, he shouldn't have even asked you. $8k is a shit load for someone who's go no money, there are cheaper bikes out there. Tough love, or at least tough mateship.

    Sell the car...

Or save up $1000 and get a bike that needs work/ has had a slide...

Learn on it and go from there.

My first bike i got on my 2nd day working at my first job... (in a motorcycle shop)

"hey boss can i pay this off from my wages?"

    "yeah sure why not"

Mother was not impressed that her son was now a motorbiker lol

Especially when a brand new bike on a dealer plate turns up in her garage space!!!

Yeah sometimes it has to be done. Saving up gives you something to aim for.
