Don't do money with friends! Do piss drinking, motorcycle crashing, dope smoking, girl sharing, cop avoiding, crop growing, or anything you like, but don't do money.

Never ever ever go guarantor for any one ever. The rules of guarantor mean that the guarantor is more liable than the person with the loan, and the courts will chase the guarantor not the person with the goods.

If he is having that much trouble getting a loan, maybe he shouldn't get one as the risk is obviously too high.

    Good luck anyway

He has no house. Really nothing apart from a car and a job. I did not have any answers.

    Any ideas?

not as fucked as someone not having a license for nine months

The best thing to do is save for it - less expensive in the long run. Finance companies/banks are just a bunch of thieving bastards with a flash office.

    Cool Ok...

After some ringin around and some emailing he has now found a finance company that is prepared to lend him $5K over 12 - 36 months. They will take the car and the bike he is buying as security should he fault on the payments. The interest is high-ish.

But as he has a decent income he is secure in the knowledge that he will be OK. And if he decides to pay it back early there is only a $50 fee, and he will save all that interest.

So as he has the OK he is now out shopping.

Thanks to the ones who gave constructive suggestions. To all the ones in their moral ivory towers who consider buying a bike a previledge for the well of, you must be proud of your ability to produce shit without smell...

May the bridges I burn light the way.
