This is just simply gorgeous.
1934 BMW R7, a one-off 800cc twin.
Recently rediscovered and a huge restoration effort by BMW to bring it back to life.
Full story of it here: - http://www.bmbikes.co.uk/photopages/photosr7.htm

I guess the link is useful though.

My 1936 R17 has very similar performance to the early /5 series apart from the cornering because of those awful cast aluminium footplates I had to get from the UK. Each rocker has dual roller bearings and whole thing is beautifully engineered. The mudguards are the same as the R7. My bike is believed to be the 1936 Olympia show bike and is now in the BMW Museum. It was too rare to ride. Good to see the R7 reborn.
Have you got any pics of your r17?.....
we all wanna see some.

I have a heap of colour photos on a large sheet which need to be blown up and put on digital. Only I have no idea who does this.
I bought the R17 in England from a garden shed for $200 and shipped it home. It took me about 8 years to restore it although it was very complete when I bought it. There are a few pre-war BMWs in NZ of various models but they are not very exciting.
That's a great looking bike. So different to anything else that was being made at the time.
Mind you, BMW has designed some real weird looking bikes.
Innovative. And they got that one right by the look of it.

Thats real nice, a bike you could just put in the house and stare at for hours. Stuff the telly Id be glued to that for a good while, it is a form of art huh.
The wife's a communist.
That is something else!
Look at that exhaust!
Thank god they found and restored it.
Cheers for posting it.
Couldn't be arsed finding the original thread but this was too full of awesomeness to pass up:
All I know at the moment is that it was originally a 1930 Henderson

That Henderson is fabulous. Can you give us some more information or links? Thanks, TC
