Done any mods that might require a rejet?
When mine broke I was stuck in gear but could push the bike with and without using the clutch. The piston would not go up and down. Couldn't shift easily. Once home (via trailer) we rocked it a bit and heard a chunk of gear falling to the sump. I managed to shift gears a few times and could still push the bike but the piston still did not go up and down. Then it all jambed then it got free again. We never tried the starter button but even if we did I dont think it would have turned over... bent crank etc.
Removed clutch cover, fished out piece of gear then took it all to mechanic which is where it still is.
Happened on the Dusty Butt ride in the middle of the Rainbow.
That has all been said before in Nordies gearbox thread.... what ever that was called.

Definitely run out of compression, either holed a piston or bent some valves somehow, you don't always hear valves bending.
Do drs have a decompression device?? maybe look at that, but my guess is the cam timing has slipped, and bent valves.
That piston is either out of a compressor or an old (very)tractor.
I mentioned vegetables once, but I think I got away with it...........
what would cause the timing to move out of place.

My DR is 31 years old and still going strong. Actually, prob not original engine, but hey, DRs are still good. You probably burnt a valve or fried the coil.
