Has anyone had their bike tested for a loud exhaust when getting a warrant ?
Story I've heard is they have been doing it since April 1st, so I guess the second question is : has anyone come unstuck yet ?

My father in law had dis bike tested and they did three tests to gain an average. legal limit is 98 db his average was 97.5he was very lucky and happy! I know of some people with cars that have come unstuck and I'm not talkin boy racers, mate had his series 5 msport beemer failed
it had wolf muffler on it and was told it was too loud.
To be old and wise first you must be young and stupid
its not hard to put your standard muffler back on for the WoF test is it?

if you don't have the original muffler then a restrictor on the junction between muffler and collector box works quite well ...
I've had mine done. all standard, told it was close.

Just got a WOF on the T-Sport, no test, no worries.

at this point it seems to depend where you go for the WOF then - testers shit list anybody ?
pretty funny how my stock bike comes with a sticker that says over 100 db (102 i think?) at 6.6k revs?
Whelp, a few years ago, I went to the vinz/vtnz place next door to the scooter place, across the road from Red Baron. My VTR had modified zorsts, and I wanted to see (beforehand) if it would pass. The tester looked at it, revved it a bit, looked at it, said, "These zorsts have been modified. You're not allowed to modifiy mufflers!"
"So... that would be a fail, then?"
"Yup."
Last time I went for a warrant, I took the VFR to Action Bike Wreckers. The guy there said he won't even bother testing a bike if it's obviously loud. He has a sound meter, but because there are so many variables with ambient noise, engine noise, etc. affecting the reading, it's easier for him to just refuse to do a WOF, than get embroiled in an argument.
He passed mine, but reckoned it wouldn't pass if tested with a meter. I disagreed, as it had the 'stealth' restrictor in, which according to Staintune complies with NSW (and therefore NZ) noise regs. However, like him, I was well aware that the VFR's engine itself produces so much mechanical noise that you're not testing the muffler noise emissions so much as muffler + ambient + engine. Even a VFR with a standard muffler would struggle in those circumstances.
... and that's what I think.
Or summat.
Or maybe not...
Dunno really....![]()
got a wof on the DR today, tester didn't look at or listen to exhaust...

Yep been tested and scraped in by 1dB. That was with the stock pipes. Have some others I want to put on but if I do will definitely be having to swap them back each time i want a warrant.
The Prila don't need a new WOF for a while (but she is a little noisy beat). One thing I'm curious about though, of those who had it tested what did they rev it to? or was it measured at idle? What what what???
I didn't think!!! I experimented!!!
