Far North Easter Escapade! Part 2...

I just have to say that the Far North has some spectacular scenery, the roads are absolutely awesome, traffic is nil and the terrain is varied!
We found some great roads, all of these are rideable by big bikes, little bikes and fuel is not an issue...
Scott and company did a great job and we all had a great time. This could turn out to be a annual ride folks, we need to sort out a few things but it might turn into a good weekend away for all.
If you don't mind camping in the paddock, peeing into a portaloo and eating on a barbeque, watch this space.....
We rode nearly 500Km a day and it was truly magnificent...









The ride was very casual, we all had fun and coming back through to the North Shore and Waikato I navigated everyone round the back roads....
I lost Scott, Brett, or rather they lost me as they were flinging the bikes left and right on the twisties through the north....
I found some great roads and ended up in Tangowahine. I hit the Houto road and others and met them all at the Brynderwyns after riding around the back of the Waipu Gorge road and Maugatoroto....

The ride back through to the big smoke involved hitting the back of Mangawhai, Wellsford, Te Kana, Port Albert, Kaipara Hills, Puhoi, Tahekaroa, Whitehills then that dreaded motorway......

Getting home was nice, I clocked 1672Km for the weekend which wasn't too bad....
I took the bike apart this morning, the dash out and had a look at a couple of wires...
I had a pinch on my Neutral wire, the speedo LED wire and the indicator.
I lost the display to the speedo, it was working but sometimes would flash bright, then dim over time...
It was a bugger but it must have been a short, I thought.
This morning I found the issue, will need to bridge a few wires and all will be sweet, I hope!

No breakdowns out of all the bikes....

We had a BMW 1200GS, two KTM990A, one KTM640A, one Honda Africa twin, one BMW F650GS Dakar, One WR450F, two Suzukis DRZ400's and a partidge in a pear tree......

Bit of an eclectic bunch, all there for the common thing, to ride, have fun and see the scenery....

I'm sure I saw your mad train go past us near Kaihu. You had just come along a road called Aranga Station road and you stopped to regroup at Whatoro (near a camp site).

My spawn was riding the dirt bikes in a field next to the road and they got a few waves from your mob.

Yeah the front wheel had knocked off / munted the spark plug cap, so I just stripped the wire back and used the little twisty thingie on the end of the spark plug to hold the wire on. Worked a treak.
