See you at the summit at 12.30. If I'm not there by 12.45 go in without me, I'm either not coming or I'll catch you up...

No Carnage, but unfortunately no camera either.
Sun shone, winds stayed down, tracks were dry, rivers (well streams) were low.
Much of the track has been made 4x4 friendly so it was a pretty quick blast in and out.
Way easier than last time I headed in there (but then again I was riding on a bald trailwing then) Definately a big bike friendly ride now.

Great local ride though - even if Cnut hill remains unconquered by an ADV bike...

    Hmmm. mussstt...make.......it....
There are two kinds of adventurers: those who go truly hoping to find adventure and those who go secretly hoping they won't. We should come home from our adventures having faced their perils and uncertainties, endured their discomfort and beaten the odds, with a sly acknowledgment and revitalised solidarity of character.

Hi Bill, wonderful sunny weather today and the streams were no issue. It was greasy in places along the valley bottom. Went past the hut & up Mark's track on the north side of stream. This was an awesome climb & I was slipping around on a well worn knobbly. GT's Trailwing got no-where & he waited at the bottom. I didn't go to the end but thought it might link back to Haurangi Rd however a hunter said it is a dead end.

Then to Cnut. The very first climb is quite eroded by water runoff but GT perserved & got up (this was just his 2nd trail ride - I said come with me I know an easy track) The rest was bone dry and good traction. The top climb (Scree of Despair) is the same old, hard work. I got up on the 2nd attempt, but it wasn't pretty. Your 625SXC should cruise up.

What do you mean Gav? My ADV bike has 300 km range, pannier racks, Rego, WOF, even if it is just a little upstart 250 that can climb Cnut

Thanks for that Andy, gunna lower the gearing, drop down off a few of the clear ridges and poke up the river beds, just an explore and get lost misson. Gotta a couple of mates who have capable bikes but dont take them out. So good on ya GT "go till there is no road, then go further"
