Hi Bill, wonderful sunny weather today and the streams were no issue. It was greasy in places along the valley bottom. Went past the hut & up Mark's track on the north side of stream. This was an awesome climb & I was slipping around on a well worn knobbly. GT's Trailwing got no-where & he waited at the bottom. I didn't go to the end but thought it might link back to Haurangi Rd however a hunter said it is a dead end.

Then to Cnut. The very first climb is quite eroded by water runoff but GT perserved & got up (this was just his 2nd trail ride - I said come with me I know an easy track) The rest was bone dry and good traction. The top climb (Scree of Despair) is the same old, hard work. I got up on the 2nd attempt, but it wasn't pretty. Your 625SXC should cruise up.

What do you mean Gav? My ADV bike has 300 km range, pannier racks, Rego, WOF, even if it is just a little upstart 250 that can climb Cnut
Hey Andy Mac looks like you guys had fun out there and thats what it is all about.
    Looking forward to the Vid.

Well, you know what they say Mark - "ïf you want something done right then do it yourself"! Better get yourself up CNUT again.

Me, I am going nowhere, I have the worst cold I can recall in my living memory. Has yet to reach the "warm liquid goey stage" signifying progress towards wellness, am stuck in the " dry scratchy throat " phase for most of the week......

Try K-lite codec pack, gives you all sorts of codecs to play nearly anything out there in windows media player, and I swear by it

Well here's the video proof that I got up with plenty of foot dabs. It was sorta disappointing to get to the top & not ride out to the coast, but GT had already waited around while I rode up the track on the other side of the stream - and he walked 1/2 way up it to check I hadn't gone over the side.

I used VLC to play the video but how do I save it into a format that I can use in Windows Movie Maker?

Total Video Converter will convert almot anything to almost anything.

It doesn't install heaps of crap on your pc either, you just save it to any directory and it runs from there.

Must get a ride organised for the brave, commited, talented or stupid that want to throw themselves and their bikes at the hill, and at the feet of andy the hill king, before heading out to the coast as well.

I'm pretty busy for the next few weekends, but around the 16th October could be good...
Bart, Marks, Stormtrooper, King Andy Mac of Cnut obviously ?
    You all in? anyone else?
