Rain X, anybody tried it, and anti fog?

    Hi Guys

Has anybody tried Rain X on your helmet visor and if so did it work, thought I would ask before I f&%K a good visor.

Also any good ideas on anti fog for the inside of the visor, I tried stopping breathing .....the surgeon said it wasn't my best idea.

    Cheers Paul

I've tried it, it works and the visor survived but I have returned to Pledge. I also used the RainX anti-fog product in side the helmit and it worked as well but stunk and made my eyes water (self defeating), again I use pledge which seem to work just as well

I've used RainX for quite a while without it rooting the visor.

I bought it originally mainly for riding in fog (I like to see the sheep before I hit it...) and would say that it is mildly effective at best. The fog still blinds you but more slowly than without the RainX.

For inner anti-fogging you can't beat a Pinlock.

So RainX is designed for glass. Works brilliantly on glass, but requires droplets to be large enough to catch the wind. This means poorer results in mist/fog.

On visors I use VisorProof (designed for plastic) works very well, but relies on the same principles as RainX.

I have used it on my helmet and its good. Also sell it by the box to one of the local sea shuttle companies for their boats windows. They have tried everything else and now will only use rain x as its the only stuff that works for them.

Only ever used Rain X anti fog once, along time ago, on the inside of an almost new Nolan visor. Totaly stuffed & melted the scratch resistant coating. Had to get another visor.

Tried a range of solutions, including CatCrap. Only a Pinlock visor insert works on the inside - even though it is expensive, if treated carefully will last about as long as the visor. Use aerosol Pledge on the outside (the pump Pledge is water based and not nearly as good).

I'v tried a few of those 'wipe on' or "spray on" anti fog solutions - OK for winter but they are a curse for summer adv / gravel riding. I.e. dust ends up sticking to the visor much worse than before.

Just like the oiling the chain scenario aye? Leave the oiling till after the dusty rides. The thing is, you do have to resist wiping the goggles/visor with gloves because you end up scratching it, then it is bloody useless. I carry two sets of goggles, change over sort of half way, wash the others and put them away, keep rotating. With a visor, I just put it up, the dust is nice and chewy....
