You owe Matt many beers for pushing you up that hill! And the DT deserves a oil change too.
I reckon the lower hill where the KTM stalled is steepest but has reasonable traction, whereas at the top traction is marginal on the Scree of Despair.
Your record is still intact Andy - sole unassisted/nonstop ascent of Cnut on a road registered adv bike - should get a cup made

Yes - Matt worked pretty hard getting me started again ... and again and...
And Yes the DT deserves a gbox oil change after the way it was abused...
Sorry I was too knackered/sore to do the Link Track on Sunday - how about aiming for Sunday 2nd May?

So a quick report on the KTM, which misbehaved over the weekend. The starter motor brushes have died. The battery is also toast. So hopefully with both those repaired/ replaced, we'll be mobile again. Haven't got a flywheel puller to look at the starter clutch, which also may have issues. Fingers crossed.

That hill certainly looks like a cnut.

From memory of the old xr days, you gotta stand up asap!
Leaning forward, back, all over the place..., jumping up & down on the pegs to get more weight on the back wheel, lol.

Well done all. Enjoyed the coverage.
    Looks like some serious fun

As promised, a picture of CNUT from the air. Sorry it is terrible, one hand through a curved canopy and with a low wing in the way, but it does prove I went up"!
Also a quick shot showing the damage JMJ has done to the Rimutuka Road.
Pampera is loaded in Thunderbird 2 and ready to head for Raglan ride tomorrow."

Sh*t doesn't just "happen". There is always an a*sehole involved.

Not on the @ I don't think... But I will take my rifle and sleeping gears in for a night or two...
There are two kinds of adventurers: those who go truly hoping to find adventure and those who go secretly hoping they won't. We should come home from our adventures having faced their perils and uncertainties, endured their discomfort and beaten the odds, with a sly acknowledgment and revitalised solidarity of character.

Mind you I do have a couple of D606's...maybe I should fit one... I'll def be taking the rear plastics off and mirrors too though...and maybe packing a spare clutch lever...

It was hard on the bike last time.

personally I think you were certifiable for even attempting the hill on that whale

There is supposed to be another way up the top of cnut and last time I was there we found another absolute prick of a climb to fall off on (you can look down on cnut from the top).

I'm keen to head in and make a decent day of exploring the different options.

    suggestions for dates?

Ha, but it made for a good avatar...

I'm pretty unreliable for dates as I'm in between moving house...finding a house....etc. I'll go with the flow...

I'm good for next w/end, and every 2nd w/end after that.

New chain and sprockets to go on next week (geared even higher ). Worn out old EO-9 might need a sort out also.

Where's this other track start from?

You missed out last time on the action Bart, it was cool fun and dangerous just the right mix for a great ride, might try using a nobbley next time round.

If you carry on past the hut the track continues, I did one stream crossing but stopped at the next one as at the time it was deeper with a steeper exit than I was prepared to try alone on the 800.

Last time I broke a clutch cable, and I wasn't anywhere near the hill. I only made it to Eketahuna.
