Hahahahaha hey Nath, it IS you!!!!!
Give Anna big hugs from me!!!!!

Holy crap, we got ourselves a regular ole MMC catchup!

Yah Dwayne bought a bike, gave it a go and decided it was all good so I sold the Black Widow and bought me the TTR.
We have been to the last two organised rides, me as a spectator with the baby (oh yeah I have an 8 month old son now who is nearly walking and LOVES motors.....any kind) and Dwayne riding. He got an RM250 and has been getting used to the switch from BMX to motors.
Went to the rides up by Shannon about a month ago, and then a couple weeks ago up at Otaki.

I only got my little bike on Sunday so havent had much time on it, went round Red Rocks and really enjoyed it, managed all the holes and ups and downs, streams and bits and pieces without coming off or killing myself LOL
I am really enjoying the change from MTB though, so nice to actually be able to power through a water crossing and up the other side effort free!

We got into it because we have a group of mates doing it, the guy D hired to work for him is really into it, along with his wife, his brother, his daughter and about 4 friends. Then two of the guys who lease a building off us are into it as well. So there is a fair group of about 10 of them that go to all the organised stuff.
My problem is they are all way better than me and I dont want to hold them up, so would like to find some like minded motivated noobies, or even some patient experts to get me up to speed FAST.
I'm a quick learner, and a fair driver too...... my last lap time at Taupo in the GSR (pre-any mods) was a fairly nice 47 seconds. I beat most of the MMC guys at trackday LMAO!!!!!
So I am hoping that I will pick this up quick enough to not hold them too far up......

Yeah it is fun indeed I been doing it for awhile now...........
We always ride as a group and just charge ahead then stop and wait for the slower ones(normaly me)

Im rather lucky I live in the country now and have some land which we ride on and got a few mates with tracks that live close by to keep me honest

We also have been known to travel abit for riding the 2 day rides are normaly really good fun

Maybe I need to get to welly area with my bike now
    Jaysen Eveleigh rides too
Make sure you get all the right protection etc when ya riding cause even with that on you can still fuck yourself up good
Trust me I know first hand
Even on the old ones if you dont race serious and you wanna just go do the odd club day and smoke everyone on a big old 5hundy it great and if you get beaten you have a handful of excuses

I'm not sure how far we would travel at this stage, I can head up to the Tangi ones as my gf always loves holding bubs but other than that need to be VERY organised LOL

I didnt know Jaysen was riding too! Does Claire ride? You def need to head down these ways, we can organise an ex-mmc member ride LOL

I actually have most of the gear I need from racing DH.
I bought a pair of fox boots new, but gloves, pads, pants etc I already had. I used to race DH in MX pants cause I got a pair of No Fear pants so cheap!
Am trying to get my Dainese back off the gf I gave it to, and hopefully can but if not, I have my eye on another set.
In the meantime, I have a good set of fox 3/4 elbow/arms which should see me till I start to get stupid LOL

Only thing I need to get sorted asap is a helmet. I have my DH full face but I have been investigating MX helmets, sizes, prices and features.
DH will do while I am slow, but I know very soon I will HAVE to have a proper MX one that will cope with speed.

Yeah DH helmets are not quite cut from the same gib they alot lighter etc
Way I see it is I sold my $100 head awhile ago so why buy a $100 helmet
Even on the old ones if you dont race serious and you wanna just go do the odd club day and smoke everyone on a big old 5hundy it great and if you get beaten you have a handful of excuses

Heh, well I spent $450 on the last helmet I bought the boy, so I dont scrimp on safety gear......

Right now my biggest concerns are finding gear to fit me thats good and has everything I need and want - at the same time hahaha.

Sucks being a midget........ I dont want kids stuff, but half the grown up stuff doesnt fit me
Mind you, it got me a cheaper set of boots cause I have teeeeeny feet and they had a couple size 5 & 6's on special LOL

I dont want a secondhand helmet either, I would rather get new and know where it's been and that it hasnt been crashed in.

    It's on my to-do list.....

I'm a Wellintonian to ya know!! Actually was down riding in Tangimoana with a mate of mine from Kapiti at Xmas! We parked down the end where the boats launch and rode in from there.
    A Word of warning!!!
He did say to me that you weren't officially allowed into the forest and we where really careful along the beach past the fishing crowd and along the road. So just take it easy around there guys and it'll be open for all in the future. Its very much like The Sandpit and the Woodhill rides we are always going on about up here but yours is free!! Lucky buggers!!! Its an hours drive approx to the sandpit and to Thunder park etc for me so you guys aren't to bad off. Tangi would only be an hour from most places there except out by the airport perhaps???

    Anyway Happy riding!!
On a Motorcycle you're penetrating distance, right along with the machine!! In a car you're just a spectator, the windshields like a TV!!

'Life's Journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out! Shouting, ' Holy sh!t... What a Ride!! '

I'm just hoping to have found something before next months ride.

IF and thats a big IF.... I feel like I can handle it I'd like to go on the ride the boys are heading out on, but will need one for it I guess.....
I like my noggin in one piece and those tracks are apparently quite demanding so knowing me I'm likely to find myself on my ass a few times (and yes I frequently get my aspirations confused with my abilities LOL) at least I did on the MTB.....

Theres some good deals to be had on tardme...............But once again you gotta be sure it will fit etc

My first helmet i bought i thought was ok till i came off hard and i feel my head moved way to much so next day with a thumping head ache i went to the MC shop and bought another but next size down feels way better plus invested in a neck brace at the same time well worth looking into

I've been looking at those neck braces, Caleb wears one and swears by it. Have a couple on my watchlist LOL
They arent sized though are they....... one size fits all?

I wasnt sure about the helmets on TM..... Hard for me to look as I have seen a bunch and thought they looked cool, but I dont know if they are worth buying. Was going to try and pop into Motorad today if I can get a park and see what brands they have now. Thats where I got the one I bought D ages ago and they were pretty good to me.
At least I know how to measure my head LOL
I think I know what size I am as long as they have cm measurements.

Are there any of the new ones on TM that would be okay to get?

Ok, Shell Mana at 10 sounds good to me.....

I have transport, and I will have the boy with me and I will let you know how many others will be along.
I'll stick my head out the window and yell at K soon, and give Mark a ring later.
We could have a potential 8 with all of us - if they all come along.

Shame you wont bring the wife!!!!!!!
Dude, shame on you! Teaching is half the fun LOL
And thats what we're here for, to pump up the womens side and show them that we can do as well as you lot WITHOUT killing ourselves in the process LOL

    Looking forward to it!!!

Hey Nath, you and Anna should come down, Tangi isnt too far from you guys!!!

So you're sweet with Sunday 26 then Kezz? Thought you said you had work?
Sunday 26th, 10am at Shell Mana sounds great - lets see how many people we can get to come along, could be a right little kb get together!
I'm pretty sure I'm sorted transport wise, think I will be able to con the flatmate into joining us too. Should be a blast!
