Notice the handling a lot more on the Gixer thsn on the SV1000 previously had, same pillion and very user friendly they are but on the Gixer you really notice every movement, looks pretty cramped too but the other option is'Don't come' this is the girlfriends chosen option.

Why do they put them up so high with the stepped seat? They never used to, used to be just one flat seat. It's not for swingarm clearance etc. either. Is it just a styling thing? Looks a bit silly, really.

Because on the more powerful bikes you tend to slide backwards under power. Stepped seat stops your arms stretching.

I've noticed a few of the perched pillions of late - by god they can be very very high.

Having said that, sometimes they like being able to see whats coming. Other times it gives them the shits (and they wish they were looking at their reflection in your helmet)

I will admit at the pillion.. if I feel confident... I could sleep... if I don't I would be viewing... being that high is to me not riding... I like to at least be at one... rolling with the bends.. and feeling the moves of the road. Can't wait for the real thing!!!

Also tends to keep one in check when on a bike thats so easily capable of silly speeds. Especially if they're able to see the speedo from above

Apparently the pillon in question raised her head to have a look at the speedo but found she was unable to lean forward and see, dumb shit with a pillon on board but before all the safety fiends crack on it was done with minimal risk, well pretty much as minimal as could be.
