IMHO by definition anything that has two wheels with an internal combustion engine for motive power and held together with nuts and bolts is interesting.

A simple observation from my profile would show you that I do own a Harley also a Yammy, I have also owned other bikes as well and have mates that have owned Dukes, Guzzis, BMW's KTM's Suzuki etc etc.
I have grown up around British bikes and have seen many sitting long periods due to unavailable parts.
yes there are plenty of OEM stock for Harley's but try getting original stock for older pre evo models and then you might see how some parts are hard to get.
But I also guess you missed the PT that was intended in my post theshould have been a little giveaway

Again as I stated some parts (original)are hard to get.
Why original, because I prefer original on my Harley but for stuff like generator bits then Austin 7 or Accel parts are the only option, I have enough aftermarket stuff already on my Yammy I don't want two frankie's in the garage.
weren't harleys made to keep @#%$ off all the other brands?
or were they in recent years turned into a global marketing exercise designed to relieve a hell of a lot of bikers of their cash? Oh its one or the other!!

comparing oem parts availability on a 25 year old (plus) machine with a newer jap bikes is like comparing oranges and apples
however if you compare the parts availability for a 30 year old harley with a 30 year jap bike and the harley will will hands down every time
Yeah, but it's the same parts... ;-)
Thought I'd say it before somebody else did.
A mate of mine had a xr-1000 engine in an xlcr? frame
had heaps of work done to the engine and he spent
lots of time sorting out the handling
fastest Harley and best handling Ive ever ridden

I agree while both of the bikes there at present are not quite 30 years old getting original parts for the Harley has been a much easier exercise than the XS.
However as the OEM parts for some late model sports bike work well for a 25 year old plus jappa then I guess those oranges might just taste like apples![]()
I don't think the V-Rod has been the hit the Factory hoped it would. I was offered a better trade-in off a new one than off the Dyna I went with. Dealer said they had more margin in the V-Rod but maybe it was also the case that they take longer to shift.
I did test ride an '06 Night Rod a few months ago. Didn't like the lack of ground clearance. Maybe that's part of the reason why the Street Rod is the one to go with.
Apparently, they're not doing the Crossbones this year either and they only bought it out last year. Rolling thunder have only sold one. Seem to be struggling to find something new that people like. Maybe should just stick with the tried and true. I don't know. Opinions please??
