There's nowt wrong with the 1990s ones, there's no difference really. As always general condition is far more important than mileage or age when it comes to bikes. I don't think Blue Wing imported any of the 2000+ ones into NZ (or the 1990s ones anyway?!), at least not in any large numbers, they're an expensive wee 250.
But yes, Toto's 2001 is a good'un.
yea but i really want the 2000+ because of the fuel gauge and my dad is very choosy.. he wants a year 2000+ and a low mileage hornet.. i was like HOW CAN I FIND IT!! its too hard.. toto's bike has too high mileage... i know it doesnt matter but my dad want's a resale value in the future. ( the bike is actually for me but my dad won't let me pick myself)![]()
Ya know the lil'ol'hornets pre-200* are just as good ... my one is up to 99600km and still going strong! Fuel gauge isn't a biggy since so many other bigger bikes don't have them!
I guess your dad just has your best interests at heart, but the average price for something like what you are looking for is around $6000 -$6500!
The reason why its tough to find the 200* are that they are still being used in Japan for commuting to the train station! They won't get rid of them until around 5 000 - 15 000 kms have been put on them. And riding 2-5km to the train station means it will take a bit of time for them to do that!
If you find a lil'ol' hornet you want to take a good look at, drop TOTO, Badger8 or me a PM since we know a thing or two about them!![]()
"I like to ride anyplace, anywhere, any time, any way!"![]()
I would have thought a semi-new decent milage bike (e.g. Toto's) would depreciate LESS than a near new low milage bike.
If you get a 2003+ low milage bike for $6-7000+, it'll depreciate $2000 in a few years. Get a $5000 bike, and it might depreciate around $1000.
Anyway, a quick search on TradeMe shows truck loads of 250 Hornets
http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Mo...-210638736.htm
I think there will be a ready resale at a good price for almost any 250, regardless of year or mileage. They already sell for far more than they should for what they are.
... and that's what I think.
Or summat.
Or maybe not...
Dunno really....![]()
well done on wanting to buy a hornet. You can never go wrong with those bikes. such awesome bikes
If there is anything at all that can be known about a hornet GiJoe is your man. we dont call him the Hornet master for nothing. But yea, if you have any question you can always pm either Gijoe, myself, Badger8 or Choco. All of us have strong love for the 250 hornets and will be more than happy to help with whatever we can.
Let us know what you find![]()
